Sunshine Hours
May has 12 glorious hours of sunshine per day on average. Only June, July and August are sunnier, although not by a lot. Those three months have merely one hour of sunshine more per day. The two main reasons for this high number of sunshine hours are the decrease in cloud cover and the increase in day length.
Clouds
Cloud cover drops from 45% in the beginning of the month to 37% at the end, which means that the skies clear from partly cloudy to mostly clear. In May, the sky is overcast only 12% of the time and is clear 46% of the time.
Daylight Hours
The days lengthen in the course of the month, allowing for much more sunshine to hit the Amalfi coast. May 1 is the shortest day with 13.58 hours of daylight, while May 31 is the longest day with 14.54 daylight hours.
