Things to Do in Sorrento in February
Sorrento Cathedral
Sorrento is an area steeped in history and there are many sites to see away from the beach. Sorrento Cathedral is one of these main highlights. Also known as the Duomo, the cathedral is located on the Corso Italia. The simple stone exterior hides an elaborate interior with archways decorated in frescoes and paintings by local artists, including members of the 18th-century Neapolitan school.
St. Antonino's Basilica
St. Antonino's Basilica dates from the 10th century and is another important religious and historical building in Sorrento. It was built to commemorate the patron saint of Sorrento. There are a variety of famous artworks as well as a crypt containing the tomb of St. Anthony himself. February 14 is the feast day of St. Anthony and this is celebrated with a procession and fireworks.
Museums
With a history that goes back as far as the Romans, Sorrento is a place that has quite a few stories to tell. It's a town of poets and artists, a town frequented by sailors, and a town where Emperors once had their "vacation homes." Much of that history is still visible in the stunning architecture in the historic centre and around the townhere are several great museums in the area as well.
