What's the Weather Like in Sorrento in February

Temperature

February's weather remains much the same as January's in SorrentoItaly. The average temperature is 9°C, a one-degree increase since January and the same average that was recorded in December. There is also a one-degree increase in both the average low and average high temperatures. At night, the temperature drops to 4°C; during the day, it climbs to 13°C. There is a tiny increase in these temperatures toward the end of the month, but nothing to get too excited about. February remains one of the coldest months in the year.

Sea Temperature

The sea temperature, too, isn't all too warm. It averages 14°C in February, which is as cold as the Mediterranean ever gets in Sorrento. March also has the same sea temperature.

Daylight Hours

The length of the days is the only thing that improves noticeably in the course of the month. February 1 is the shortest day with 10.04 hours of daylight. February 28 is the longest with 11.14 daylight hours. This is an increase of 1.10 hours, meaning that each February day is 2.4 minutes longer than the previous one.

Cloud

Cloud cover stays essentially constant throughout the month, as it has done since December and will continue to do until late April. It averages 46%--a typical day in February is partly cloudy. The sky is clear or mostly clear 32% of the time and overcast only 18% of the time.

Sunshine Hours

As cloud cover remains constant, it is the lengthening of the days that is responsible for the one-hour increase in sunshine hours compared with January. Now, there are 7 hours of sunshine per day on averageot too bad by any account. The same amount of sunshine hours is also recorded in November.

Rainfall

When it comes to rainfall, things don't improve too much compared with the previous month. The total amount of rainfall is 99mm and there are 13 days with rainfall. This makes February the fifth wettest month of the year, after the four previous months. The likelihood that rainfall occurs ranges around 42% during the entire month. By far the most likely type of rainfall is moderate rain, which is observed on no less than 51% of the days with rainfall.

Thunderstorms are second most likely and occur on 21% of the rainy days. Light rain and drizzle are third and fourth and happen respectively on 16% and 8% of those days. Snow is exceptionally rare in Sorrento.
