The popular ski resort of Soldeu features a year round temperate climate with cold snowy winters, ideal for skiing and mild summers. Due to its locality in high and northern areas of Andorra, Soldeu experiences very reliable winter sport conditions as many slopes remain snowcapped until the near end of July. Soldeu is situated in the eastern areas of Andorra and take up a large division of the Grandvalira ski district. With a foot elevation of 1800m, skiing up to 2640m and access to over 190km of runs, Soldeu is the largest slope in the Pyrenees region. This area of the Pyrenees features an average of 250mm of snowfall each year and benefits from a magnificent ski season from December until April. Due to Mediterranean influences and a high mountain elevation Soldeu takes pleasure in year round sunshine and bright conditions.
Summer
Evidently summer is Soldeu's low season. This part of the year offers a much more relaxed environment with trekking, mountain biking and climbing as some of the regions most attributed attractions. Although summer in Soldeu is not your typical Mediterranean summer, the area and its surroundings still receive the benefits. With low levels of rainfall and extensive hours of sunshine, the average climate reaches a mild 18ºC to 19ºC in the warmest months of July and August. Even though the snow has melted and skiers are no longer to be seen, the mountain still keeps hold of its unique charisma.
Autumn
Autumn is actually the quietest time of the year. The resort still sees temperatures lowering to zero, occasionally sub zero however there is rarely ever any snow present. The climates throughout September and October yet not cold enough to enjoy some of the early ski season are nor warm enough to take part in the main trekking attractions of summer.
Winter
Winter is of course the area's peak and most popular season. Day temperatures are warm as the Mediterranean-like sunshine sores down onto the resort for five or six hours per day, however the temperatures quickly drop as the sun descends reaching climates well below freezing point overnight. With precipitation levels being very sporadic throughout the whole year, winter above all remains fairly humid. Because of the great variety of skiing beginner and skiing intermediate slopes, Soldeu is known a great resort for all skiers and snowboarders.
Spring
Unlike autumn, spring is a great time to take a vacation to Soldeu as the early months still take part in the ski season. March and April are known as some of the best times to visit the resort as the busy winter crowds have died off and there is still plenty of snow surrounding the mountain. It is also an ideal period to visit as average temperatures begin to rise and the sun is guaranteed to be shining for an average of six or seven hours each day.
