Sitges is an excellent holiday destination to visit all year round. The relaxing holiday resort is located a few kilometres south of Barcelona.
Just like the rest of Spain, Sitges will be welcoming the Spring season in March. It has an average temperature of 110 C in March with an average high temperature of 150 C and an average low temperature of 70 C.
Although Sitges is a seaside resort, the sea is not the most popular tourist destination in March. This is because the sea has an average temperature of 13.90 C, which is a little cold and discourages swimming.
Sitges also receives a decent amount of rainfall in March as the resort receives an average precipitation of 48 mm as rain falls on an average of 9 days throughout the month.
The resort also receives a fair amount of sunshine as it receives an average of 7 hours of sunshine in March.
For vintage car and patchwork lovers, March is the month to be in the coastal town of Sitges, Barcelona. Every year, since 1959, the town has hosted a spectacular rally for vintage cars produced between 1900 and 1924. The rally starts in the town of Barcelona, takes the C-31 route on the Careodaera de la Costas (literally translates to 'road to the coast') and ends in Sitges' Fragatura Beach. Awards are given for the fastest car, the most beautiful car and, the best dressed driver.
Around the same time of the month, there is the Annual Patchwork Fair for patchwork aficionados. The fair lasts two days and entails workshops, lessons, displays of the finest patchwork, and booths where you can buy patchwork items. Like the vintage car rally, this is a well-recognized fair and attracts people from all over the world. Some of the best patchwork can be seen at the Sitges Annual Patchwork Festival.
One of the great places to stay during your visit to Sitges is the Hotel El Cid.
