Weather Lowdown
October is a great time to visit Shark's Bay, Egypt with the temperatures still high but the summer crowds long gone. October sees the average temperatures, average highs and lows, average sea temperature and average sunshine hours all go down from previous months. The average rainfall rises, but should not be an issue for your holiday.
The average temperature throughout October is 27°C (80°F). Average highs get up to 31°C (88°F) which are mostly seen after October 21st as the beginning half of the month still sees daily highs reach 34°C (93°F). Average lows go down to 22°C (72°F) which are also mostly seen after October 21st as the beginning half of the month sees daily lows get to 26°C (78°F). October experiences falling daily highs with only one day in ten going over 37°C (98°F) or under 27°C (80°F). Daily lows only go under 20°C (68°F) or above 27°C (81°F) every one in ten days.
The average rainfall for October rises for the first time since the summer months with 2mm of rainfall. This amount of rainfall is also seen in February.
The average humidity for October is 45% and ranges from 26%, considered dry, to 63%, considered mildly humid. The humidity rarely goes under 17%, considered dry, or goes above 72%, considered humid. The beginning of the month is the most likely to be the least humid while the middle of the month is the most likely to be the most humid.
The wind speed in October varies from 3mph, light air, to 20mph, fresh breeze. The beginning of October is most likely to have the highest wind speeds while the end of the month is most likely to have the lowest wind speeds. The wind direction blows out of the north most often and out of the southwest least often.
The average sunshine hours continues to go down as winter approaches. October sees 10 hours of average sunshine which is fourth highest of the year and also seen in March and April. As the month goes on, daily sunshine slowly decreases with the beginning of the month on average experiencing the highest daily sunshine.
The average sea temperature for October lowers to 27°C (81°F) from September's 28°C (82°F). This is the second highest average sea temperature for the year and is also seen in July.
