What's the weather like in Sardinia in September

September is a very popular month to visit Sardinia's many beach resorts, as well the ever popular capital, Cagliari. This is unlikely to be torrential, and will generally clear very quickly, as with most Mediterranean downpours at this time of year, leaving behind clear, blue skies and fresher air.

You can still swim and enjoy water-based fun in September, as the average sea temperature is a wonderfully warm 23°C, making September a slightly quieter, but very warm, month to visit Sardinia.

Cala Goloritzé
Cala Goloritzé beach is a small slither of paradise, featuring powder white sands and stunning greenery along the cliffs; this also makes for great bird watching. The secluded nature of this beach is partly due to it being rather challenging to reach, so do bring plenty of water and supplies with you as there are no facilities here. Snorkellers will love this beach as the water is completely clear, with plenty of fish to spot.
Cala Luna
Golfo di Orosei is made up of many sandy beaches, one of which is Cala Luna. The beach area is lined by beautiful limestone cliffs and vibrant greenery. There are also caves to explore along the edges of the beach.

Agriturismo Li Mori
In San Teodoro you will find Agriturismo Li Mori, a real treat for the eyes and the tastebuds. This is set in a converted Sardinian farmhouse, giving it a real rustic feel, which totally fits in with the cuisine on offer. The staff are also dressed in traditional Sardinian clothing for even more authenticity! You will find a range of Mediterranean dishes to choose from, giving you something for every taste. The handmade ravioli dishes and the pork are some of the well recommended choices here.
La Maison
Continuing with the rustic feel, La Maison in Sassari offers simple Italian rustic menus, set in homely surroundings, so you feel right in the heart of an Italian family meal situation! Alternatively, when in Italy you should certainly be trying some authentic pizza, and you don't get better than GiroPizza in Olbia. Try the calzones, they're huge!

Things to do in Sardinia in September
La Prisgiona Nuraghe in Arzachena
Cooler temperatures means you can explore your destination a little better, and if you're in Costa Smeralda, there is plenty to enjoy. It's not all about beaches, as there is plenty in the way of history and architecture to enjoy too. La Prisgiona Nuraghe in Arzachena offers ancient ruins to wander around and check out, with a beautiful coastline backdrop to boot. This is a former Bronze Age village archaeological site.
Stella Maris
Stella Maris is also a must visit, a beautiful church on a hill with views overlooking the picturesque marina.
Le Ragnatele
Le Ragnatele is a fantastic choice for families looking for adventure. This park is made up of tree trails, tight rope walks, ziplines and a whole host of other adventure trails. There is also a restaurant and bar on site for lunch time. Note that this park has limited opening hours during the out of season months.
BluFan Aquatic Park
BluFan Aquatic Park offers another great day out for the whole family. Kids will love the splash pad and mini slides, and adults and older children can head over to the big slides, perfect for those looking for a great adrenaline rush!
Arcipelago di La Maddalena National Park
Perhaps it's Olbia you're wanting to explore, in which case you're more than catered for. Giants' Grave is a popular spot, dating back to the Bronze Age. On top of this, the natural beauty of the Arcipelago di La Maddalena National Park. This is a group of islands which are stunning in their beauty and are full of wildlife.
Olbia
Olbia is also fantastic for shopping, with many districts dedicated to retail therapy. You'll also find street markets on Saturdays and Tuesdays, which are fantastic for grabbing a souvenir which is a little different, perhaps even handcrafted.
Festa Sant Miquel
If you're in Alghero at the end of September, be sure to check out Festa Sant Miquel, a celebration of the patron saint of the city, with fireworks, parades, and general fun and festivities to be had.
