What's The Weather Like In Santa Susanna In January

Temperature

On average, January is one of the coldest months of the year in San Sebastian. But though average temperatures remain around 8°C during the month, this Mediterranean weather is still far milder than anything experienced in the UK. Average highs of 13°C during the day time ensure only a cardigan or light coat is required for walking around the region. Which will also be ample protection from the 61mm of rain which is usually expected to fall throughout the month.

Rain

In reality, even 61mm of rain throughout the entire month only equates to approximately 9 days with a chance of rain. This ensures plenty of time for sunshine every day during the period.

Sunshine Hours

Expect up to 7 hours of daily sunshine in Santa Susanna in January creeping close to 8 as we get closer towards the end of the month. And humidity levels stay at a very comfortable 77%.

Wind

Wind is not too much of a concern in January. A northerly wind from the Pyrenees Mountains can make the climate feel cooler. However with minimum average temperatures usually no lower than 2°C, there is very little chance of any frost in San Sebastian. Even in January.

Historically, there has been some extreme temperatures in San Sebastian. In 1985, January recorded its lowest ever temperature in the region which was just -7°C. Conversely, 2004 saw the warmest temperature in San Sebastian in January, offering temperatures of up to 22°C. It is therefore far more likely that San Sebastian will be slightly warmer than expected, rather than drastically cooler.

The freshness in the air ensures that storms are not such an issue during January, providing a much more consistent climate. However, there is the chance of cloud during the month, which means that you will have to check the forecast carefully before undertaking any significant treks or long walks if you want to enjoy the views.
