Spring officially ends in May in Sani and summer is just around the corner, with temperatures jumping up and rainfall chances staying steady as they have throughout the beginning of the year. Like nearby Afitos, the average daily temperature for this part of southeastern Europe sits at a near-perfect 20°C (around 68°F). You'll want to take advantage of the abundant sunshine and amazing temperatures to enjoy all the area has to offer.
At night, the lows drop down to 14°C (about 57°F), chilly, but tolerable if you have a jacket or coat. Fortunately, you'll only see these lows late at night and early in the morning. During the warmest part of the day, the highs jump up to 25°C (about 77°F), warm but not too hot yet. Your suitcase should have warm weather clothing, such as short-sleeved shirts, shorts, and sandals for the beach. If you'll be exploring the local towns, you'll want a good pair of walking shoes.
The amount of sunshine each day jumps up to nine hours a day, more than ample time to get outside and soak up the sun's rays. The area sees nearly 290 days of sunshine each year, so be sure to bring along the sunglasses and a hat. You'll also want a high-SPF sunscreen to protect yourself from a nasty sunburn that could ruin your holiday. The chance of a sunny day is 33 percent.
With an average of 45 mm of rainfall, coming over nine days, an umbrella would be handy, but isn't essential. Any rain that does fall is typically light and short-lived. If you have a high cold tolerance, you may be able to do some swimming or try some water sports. The average sea temperature for this part of Greece this month is 18°C (about 64°F). At the very least, head down to the beach and take a stroll through the warm sand.

Things to Do
The Byzantine Tower, located in Nea Fokea, stands tall over the marina and is a must-see when you're in the Sani area. Inside the tower, you'll find thousands of years of history in the wall murals and the beautifully-carved wood pieces. The confessional is a piece of artwork itself with its gorgeous paintings and intricately carved wood. After touring the inside, step outside for astounding views of the bay and the Aegean Sea.
If you want to explore the warm May waters of the Aegean Sea on your own, head over to Blue Secret, which rents boats by the hour or for a full day. The boats seat five to six people and are easy to operate thanks to the helpful instructions from the staff before you head out. You can also rent water skis, fishing GPS, fishing gear, and snorkel equipment. The company even has mini bars you can rent for your boat for drinks and snacks on the water.
Eating and Drinking Out
It doesn't get much more casual than tables and chairs out on the green grass and the Alexis Taverna delivers on the promise of a laid-back atmosphere and yummy food. The restaurant has a traditional Greek menu and an extensive wine list to match and complement each dish. It sits conveniently right on the marina in Sani and the resident cats come out to keep you company during your meal.
Check out the Dunes Restaurant for a quick snack or a light meal in between splashing in the waves and soaking up the sun on the beach. The menu is full of a la carte selections ranging from sandwiches to entrees. You can't miss the amazing views from the outdoor dining spaces with tables and chairs and comfy couches for lounging. Save room for dessert too, as the restaurant has a large selection of sweet treats.
Part of the Rigas Hotel in Afitos, Tuna Fish Concept has two levels to treat diners to sweeping views of the Aegean Sea. You'll enjoy your meal in the open-air dining room next to the gorgeous blue pool. The food looks as good as it tastes, with amazing presentation that makes it almost too pretty to eat. Throughout the week, the restaurant also brings in live bands and musicians to entertain guests as they dine.
