Avg Historical Daily Average

The winter cold weather continues into February in Sani with low temperatures still dropping down to near freezing. The average low hits 3°C (about 37°F), pretty chilly and definitely requiring the proper winter gear for being outside. Fortunately, these lows typically only occur at night and in the early morning hours. During the day, the highs reach up to 11°C (around 52°F), a pleasant temperature for being outside with the right coat or jacket.

The average daily temperature is still decent, sitting at 7°C (about 45°F). As you're packing for your trip to Greece, be sure to bring along long-sleeved shirts, sweaters, and trousers to layer underneath your coat. You'll also want a warm and sturdy pair of shoes to keep your feet warm as you explore the area. This month, snow is rare, with only a 6 percent chance of snow falling on any given day.

Only about 23 mm of precipitation falls across the month, so whatever fallsain or snows light and short-lived. Rainfall occurs over seven days in the month and the chance of rain is 30 percent, so you probably won't need your umbrella. Compared to January, you'll get two extra hours of sunshine each day to spend outside seeing the sights. The chance of a sunny day is 20 percent and the chance of clouds is 35 percent.

It's still too chilly for swimming in this part of southern Europe, with the Aegean Sea only getting up to 12°C (around 54°F). The wind stays steady, especially in the afternoons, with a 17 percent chance of having a windy day. Fog is also a possibility this time of the year, with a 7 percent chance of having a fog day.

Things to Do

Take a day trip to one of the other fingers of the Halkidiki peninsula and visit Mount Athos. While only males are permitted to explore the monasteries and buildings found on the mountain, women and children can appreciate its beauty at the bottom or from one of the nearby towns. Plan ahead though; you must get a permit to visit and preference is given to Orthodox Christians.

Found just outside the town of Polychrono, on the western side of the Kassandra peninsula, Polychrono Lake is a picturesque place to visit during your February holiday to Sani. The lake is surrounded by pine trees, creating shade for visitors enjoying the natural blue waters. It's also a sanctuary of sorts for a special type of water turtle, the Testudinata Turtle, and you can see plenty playing and swimming around in the water.

Eating and Drinking Out

While its menu includes mostly Greek favourites, you can also enjoy other cuisine at PetraFlora in Afitos. The pizzeria and snack bar serves up traditional Italian-style pizzas, cooked over a wood-fired grill. You can also get pasta dishes, fresh salads, and tasty desserts. The restaurant is family-friendly, with plenty of outdoor dining spaces to enjoy the beautiful weather.

With its exposed stone exterior and bright blue shutters, Strouboulis in Afitos exudes old-world charm and romance. Diners can eat their meals under the shade of a huge orange tree right in the middle of the outdoor dining patio. The menu includes lots of Greek and Mediterranean favorites including grilled octopus, red snapper, and several green salads. You'll get great value with the large portions and affordable prices too.

The Water Restaurant, part of Sani Asterias, offers amazing views and an incredible menu to match. Open for breakfast and dinner, the restaurant is helmed by two Michelin-star chefs. The menu includes an eclectic collection of Greek, Mediterranean, and international flavours. The restaurant has an adults-only section, so you can enjoy a peaceful and romantic date night over gourmet dishes.
