Even though the calendar says it's the end of the summer, the weather thinks differently in August. The resort town of Sani sees continuing hot temperatures and very little rainfall throughout the month. The days start to get shorter again, with 11 hours of sunshine on average per day. Still, that's more than enough time to enjoy a full day down on the beach or exploring the Kassandra peninsula. The chance of a sunny day is 74% and the chance of clouds is only 1%.
This month sees the hottest sea temperature out of the whole year, peaking at 25°C (around 77°F). You'll see lots of visitors hanging out on the beach and splashing around in the water. With such warm water temperatures, you'll want to swim, play, and try your hand at any number of water sports offered in the area. The warm air doesn't hurt either; the average daily temperature hits 27°C (about 81°F), similar to the nearby town of Afitos.
At night, the lows drop down to a very comfortable 21°C (around 70°F), a definite change from the heat of the day. The high temperatures reach up to 32°C (about 90°F), matching the highs seen in July. Your suitcase should have plenty of t-shirts, shorts and tank tops to stay cool during the heat of the day. Bring along the sunglasses, hat and sunscreen too to save your skin from a nasty sunburn.
Rainfall amounts this time of the year are only 18mm, with 4 days of rain across the entire month. The chance of rain on any given day is 13%. With these numbers, you're almost guaranteed amazing, sunny weather during your holiday and can leave the umbrella at home. Check the local forecast each day before you head out to know for sure what weather to expect.

Things to Do
For a fascinating look back in history, visit the Temple of Ammon Zeus in Kallithea. It's open Monday through Saturday and invites guests to take a glimpse back to the 8th century BC, when some of the oldest parts were built. Other parts were added in 5th century BC and during the 1st and 2nd centuries AD. The ruins do not have many trees around, so visit in the cooler parts of the day to escape the August heat.
Hop on the back of a magnificent horse and take a horseback riding tour with Cavalo Riding Resort. The resort offers free rides through the forests and along the coastline of the Aegean Sea, giving you a whole different perspective. If you're interested in learning more horseback riding skills, Cavalo also offers competitive and recreational classes for beginner to advanced riders.
Hit the Beach
August has the hottest sea temperatures, hitting 25°C (around 77°F), so take advantage and head to Chrouso Beach. A clean and quiet beach on the east coast of the Kassandra peninsula, this beach has clear, shallow waters. You can rent umbrellas and loungers, and the village of Paliouri is close-by for restaurants and bars.
The main beach in the village of Kallithea, Kallitheas Beach is a quiet and private beach with several amenities. You can rent beach chairs, loungers, and umbrellas and can get drink and snack service on the beach. This beach is a good choice for families with young kids, thanks to the soft sand, clear water, and shallow entry into the sea. The beach sits close to the Temple of Ammon Zeus and numerous restaurants in the town.
Eating and Drinking Out
For an incredible culinary experience, you can't miss Tomata in the Sani Marina area. The chefs use local produce, meats, and other foods whenever possible, giving you fresh-tasting Greek and Mediterranean dishes. You even get to make your own salads right at the table using locally-grown lettuces and vegetables. If you want, you can also create your own dressings using Greek olive oil and spices.
A traditional taverna like those found across the country, Ouzerie Psaroyannos provides guests with authentic Greek and Mediterranean dishes. Menu favourites include lamb burgers and Greek orange cake. If you're not sure where to start, check out the set menu prepared by the chef each day. The outdoor dining room provides the perfect backdrop for your meal, with views of the water and the resort.
If you need a change of pace from the typical Greek fare served at most of the restaurants in the area, head over to Margarita Pizza Bar in Afitos. Here, you can dine on wood-fired pizzas topped with a wide variety of ingredients. The seafood pizza is a popular choice, as is the traditional chicken and garlic. The menu also includes starters like breadsticks and traditional pasta entrees.
