Playa Rincon

Picturesque Playa Rincon is one of the longest beaches in Samana, making it a popular place to enjoy an early morning run or romantic evening stroll. The crystal-clear waters here are ideal for swimming and there are several food huts that offer freshly caught fish and seafoodowever, make sure not to eat baby lobsters this time of year as it adversely affects the lobster population. This is one of the absolute greatest beaches in the Dominican Republic, a place that belongs on any itinerary.

Located right next to the beach in Las Terrenas, Hotel-Restaurant Los Pinos is set amid gorgeous lush tropical gardens. The hotel is a nice place to stay, but it's the restaurant that steals the show. Focusing on Italian cuisine, this busy eatery is laidback and casual, its seating area made up of plastic chairsypically Caribbean. Modern and expensive furniture doesn't distract from the excellent food!

Restaurant Atlantis

Restaurant Atlantis is part of Hotel Atlantis in Las Terrenas. This excellent dining venue focuses on French cuisine, prepared with locally sourced products and produce. Set right behind a gorgeous sand beach, this restaurant serves everything from breakfast to lunch to dinner. Make sure to try the shrimp with passionfruit sauce or the fish soup.

Caffe Leopard

If you want to grab a quick coffee and a snack, Caffe Leopard is a good option. It is in Las Terrenas and prides itself on its wonderful atmosphere and great coffees. If you're stopping by in the late afternoon, you can also order a glass of wine or another drink.

Things to do in Samana in August

Boca el Diablo

Boca el Diablo, literally Mouth of the Devil in English, is one of the most popular sites to visit in Samana. This natural attraction is made up of a large blowhole set in stone, which sprays out a mixture of air and water at tremendous speeds due to the underlying wave action. This spot also offers fantastic sea views, so don't forget to take your camera.

Phillippe Pollet

August is the third wettest month of the year, so if you're seeking shelter during one of the afternoon downpours, consider heading into some of the local shops in Samana Town. You can find everything you could possibly need in the supermarket and pharmacy, but grocery shopping is probably not what you consider a fun activity. Instead, consider buying some of the exquisite wooden art made by Frenchman Phillippe Pollet, which is arguably the greatest souvenir you can buy in the area.
