The climate is Mediterranean, with long, hot and dry summers and mild winters. As is typical with Mediterranean climates, there is next to no rainfall in summer, with a wetter period in autumn and winter.

Summer

Summer is from May to early-October, when the weather is extremely hot, sunny and bone-dry.

At the start of the season, May sees average temperatures of 25°C. This is accompanied by an average of 9 hours of sunshine per day and fairly low rainfall of 22mm, so visitors in early summer can expect fantastic weather with the added bonus of missing the peak tourist season.

From June to September the average temperature does not fall below 30°C. June sees average temperatures of 31°C, followed by a peak of 35°C in July, 34°C in August and 30°C in September. The weather is almost guaranteed to be sunny and hot, with temperatures frequently pushing well into the high thirties. Sea breezes are more common here than further east into the Mediterranean, and cooling breezes occasionally blow in from the nearby foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. These breezes serve to make the temperature feel slightly lower, making the heat more bearable.

Visitors can expect long hours sunny weather, with an average eleven hours of sunshine per day in June and July, and ten hours in August. Rain is practically non-existent in summer, with June seeing an average of just 7mm of rain, and July and August seeing a mere 3mm. September is just slightly wetter, with a still-trifling 16mm of rain expected.

The hot, sunny weather is ideal for lounging on a nearby beach, but the relentless heat will demand a cooling swim.  Average sea temperatures of 20°C in June rise to 23°C by August and stay above 20°C until October. This is a little cooler than the waters of the eastern Mediterranean, but still great for a swim.

Autumn

October remains warm, with average temperatures of 23°C, but rainfall increases to 35mm. Average hours of sunshine fall to seven hours per day, and night-time temperatures become noticeably cooler. Plenty of pleasant weather can still be expected, but this is punctuated by occasional showers and some windy weather. In November average temperatures drop to 17°C, with similar levels of rainfall to those found in October. Night-time temperatures can be quite chilly.

Winter

Winter lasts from December to February. December and January are the coolest months, with average daytime temperatures of 13°C. December is also the wettest month of the year, with 42mm of rain falling. However, winter skies are often clear, with plenty of sunshine expected throughout the season. January and February still manage an average of six hours of sunshine per day, which is extremely sunny for winter.

Spring

Temperatures warm in spring, with 19°C averages in March and 21°C in April. Rainfall is lower than the winter months, with just 24mm and 25mm falling in March and April. Averages of seven hours of sunshine during both months reflect the fact that warm, sunny weather is a feature of spring, with just occasional showers. Conditions are very pleasant, in fact, during spring. Night-time temperatures can get fairly chilly though.
