May heralds the arrival of the summer season as temperatures continue to rise. Daytime temperatures now reach a high of 21°C (69°F) and only fall to 13°C (56°F) in the evenings, with 9 hours of sunshine each day.

This means you can spend time at one of the many beaches during the day and then head out to explore Saint Tropez's famous nightlife!

Pamplonne Beach is the most popular in the area, and contains Plage de Tahiti made famous by Bridgette Bardot in the movie And God Created Women! There are plenty of amenities along this beach such as toilets, showers, kiosks, cafes and restaurants.

You can also take a boat tour for a different way to enjoy the beautiful coast line, and scuba diving is also popular in the area if you fancy exploring the fantastic marine life in the bay.

Boutiques are open seven days a week during the summer, so shopaholics can head to the range of shops around Rue Gambetta, Place de la Garonne and Rue Al-lard.

Saint Tropez becomes extremely busy at this time of year so it is essential to book accommodation far in advance.

Villa Cosy is a favourite, being situated just five minutes from the centre of Saint Tropez and offering villa style rooms around an outdoor pool.

Hotel le Mandala is a five minute walk from the port area. Features include air conditioned rooms with flat screen televisions and an outdoor pool with terrace.

And the Benkirai Hotel is located 15 minutes' walk from the beach, and runs a regular shuttle service. If you'd like to stay within the hotel, there is a large pool and sun terrace, and a restaurant serving French food during the day and delicious Thai cuisine at night.
