Saint Tropez enjoys a mild climate all year round so January is fairly mild. Daytime temperatures reach a high of 13°C (55°F) but can fall to 4°C (39°F) in the evenings.

There are five hours of sunshine each day but there is also a fair amount of rain this month, so it would be wise to bring warmer clothing and an umbrella with you on your trip. However, on a clear day you can get out and about and explore the area, and although it is winter there is still plenty to see and do.

The beaches of Saint Tropez may not be ideal for laying out on during January, but the stunning coastline is well worth a pleasant stroll in the afternoon sun. Boat tours are also available depending on the weather, so book one to get a unique view of this beautiful stretch of coast.

Golf is popular all year round in Saint Tropez, and the milder weather during the winter months makes it a good time to tee off on the Golf de Beauvillon, Vernatelle or Gassin Golf Country Club.

Saint Tropez can be fairly expensive to stay in even during the winter months, however if you stay slightly further out of the town centre you can get some good deals.

The Mercure Thalassa Frejus is located just outside Saint Tropez on the Port Feus Marina, and offers a double room for seven nights at £492. Enjoy direct access to the beach and the adjoining spa while staying here.

Hotel le Mandala is right in the centre of Saint Tropez, just five minutes from the port area. This hotel features modern rooms and views of the ocean.

And the Excelsior is located right on the beach in Saint Raphael and contains a restaurant, brasserie and pub. It is also just a few minutes walk from the nearest casino.
