What's the Weather Like in Rio de Janeiro in April

Rio de JaneiroBrazil, is the South American country's main tourist destination, located on the Atlantic coastline with 5-star resorts nestled between the tall mountains and some of the most beautiful, and most famous, beaches in the world. Temperature

As April can be considered to be a transitioning month between the hot and wet summer season and the somewhat milder winter season, the temperature in Rio de Janeiro decreases. It does, however decrease by just a few degrees, as the weather in the city is typically quite constant all-year round.

Beaches for April for Rio de Janeiro

Barra Beach

With sea temperatures averaging 25°C, April is a magnificent month to hit the beach in Rio de Janeiro. Barra Beach is one of the best beaches in the cityt's huge, measuring no fewer than 18 kilometres long and stretching out between Recreio and Barra da Tijuca. The first kilometres of the beach are lined with hotels, restaurants and bars; things quiet down a bit as you go further, although there will always be plenty of facilities available.

Barra Beach is a great beach for water sports, such as kite surfing, wind surfing, body boarding and regular surfing, which is why this will be an important venue during the 2016 Olympics, which take place in August.

Things to Do in Rio de Janeiro in April

Rio Boat Show

One of the most important events in Rio de Janeiro in April is the Rio Boat Show, definitely a fun event to attend on one of the 28°C-warm afternoons this month. The show is the largest sailing event in South America, and attracts all the big names in the nautical world. As well as sailings, there's also a chance to buy (or just window shop) the newest, most luxurious, and highest priced boat models on the market. There's also live music and a host of other entertainments during this week long international event.

Surfing

Another popular water-based thing to do in Rio is surfing. Several of the city's beaches, including Ipanema, Arpoador and Leblon, have a world-class surf with waves suitable for absolute beginners, pros and everyone in between. Along the Rio coastline, you will find many a surfing school, able to teach you the basics of surfing.

The beaches in the city are always filled with people sunbathing, swimming and surfing, particularly on the weekends, so if you're more comfortable surfing when it's quieter, try it on a weekday. Arpoador Beach, incidentally, also offers the opportunity to surf at nighthere are lights set up along the rocks.
