Gullfoss Waterfall
The breathtaking Gullfoss Waterfall is located on the beautiful Golden Circle trail, booking a tour is definitely recommended. Find the narrow path that provides close-up views of the massive, two-tiered waterfall. The waterfall looks wonderful in all weather but particularly special when the water freezes into undulating waves of glistening ice. Rainbows at the falls make for spectacular photographs. This is without a doubt one of Reykjavik's must visits.
Culture Night
Culture Night is always held in August and takes place all across Reykjavik; on the streets, squares, in museums, businesses and even in residential gardens. The celebration has become a permanent fixture in the annual calender of events in Reykjavik as it marks the start of the city's cultural year. The main objective of the night is to encourage participants to deliver a diverse and rich offering of cultural events with a taste of something for everyone. Usually, around 100,000 guests attend as it's the most popular festival in Iceland. Some attend to watch the musical performances and others want to see the art exhibitions. Amazingly, all events are free.
Reykjavik Pride
Reykjavík Pride is held at the beginning of August for six days; you can't really miss it if you're visiting during the celebration. The colourful event brings thousands of people to the city centre where the gay community are supported by a huge parade. It's actually one of the biggest little Pride Parades in the world. Getting involved in this once in a life time experience will of course be exciting and most definitely memorable.
Reykjadalur Steam Valley
Something a little different to the Blue Lagoon is Reykjadalur Steam Valley. Take a dip in the hot spring, located in the stunning Reykjadalur valley, just 45km away from Reykjavik. Hike your way to the valley filled with hot springs, mud pools and a cool hot river where you can bathe.
