Temperature
The early summer season starts in May in Rethymnon which means a taste of the long hot summer that is yet to come. Average temperatures of 19°C make this part of Crete one of the nicest places to be at this time of the year, offering plenty of sun for everyone.

Though Panormos is a 30 minute drive from the centre of Rethymnon, it is well worth the trip. There are plenty of Tavernas and Restaurants for refreshment, and the situation in a quaint fishing village ensures Panormos offers lots of areas to explore. Adele Beach
The 5km long Adele Beach stretches along the north coast of the Rethymnon shore line. Thanks to its combination of clean sand and pebble beach and gradual water decline, this beach highly popular with families. There are plenty of secluded areas for when that May sun gets too hot. And a wealth of bars and tavernas to keep you fully satisfied. Take a walk up to this beautiful area or hop on the local bus. Museum of Wooden Sculptures
The Museum of Wooden Sculptures is a very unique experience located in a small village at the foot of Mount Psiloritis. Sculptor and owner, Georgios Koutantos, is one of the world's top wood artists. And if you are lucky, he will be on hand to talk you through the origins of his craft and how he is able to achieve such sensational results. Though it is situated 45km from Rethymnon, the products created are truly breath taking and provide a very unique photo opportunity.
