What's the Weather like in Rethymnon in July

For anyone visiting Rethymnon in July, lack of sun is never going to be a problem. July is the hottest month of the year in this part of the Greek Island of Crete. It has the most sunshine hours of any month of the year. And it is usually the driest month of the year too.

Temperature

Average temperatures of 26°C tell just half of the story when it comes to the weather forecast for Rethymnon in July. Average highs during the month reach up to 30°C almost daily. And with record highs of 43°C, it is hot, hot, hot.

Even in the depths of night, temperatures never seem to fall below an average of 21°C. And while this may be too much for some to bear, for sun worshippers it is the perfect time to visit. Even the lowest recorded temperature in Rethymnon in July 1984 was a beautiful 14°C, ensuring no visitor has anything to worry about. Just make sure your accommodation has full air conditioning!

Precipitation

If there is any rainfall in July in Rethymnon, it won't last for long. Only a maximum of 5mm of precipitation are expected throughout the entire month, which could mean the odd scattered shower. But nothing worth writing home about.

Humidity

The dry weather ensures that, though it's hot, humidity levels are still tolerable. Usually humidity levels never rise above 57%, which are far more comfortable than other parts of Europe and the Caribbean that enjoy the same sort of temperatures.

Sea Temperature

And thanks to all that warm summer sun, the sea temperature is also close to the highest level experienced at any time of the year at 25°C. This is only beaten by the average temperature of the sea in August, which is just one degree warmer.

The gentle northerly winds can offer some relief from the heat in exposed areas. But when you want wall to wall sun in a truly beautiful environment, Rethymnon is the perfect destination in July.
