What's the Weather Like in Puerto Vallarta in June

The temperatures rise in June in Puerto VallartaMexico, as the city enters summer and the rainy season. The month is characterised by high temperatures and plenty of rain. If you're looking to explore the cultural side of the city and not necessarily spend too much time on the beaches, then this is a good time to visit.

Temperature

Temperatures can reach 33°C and above during June, but daily averages sit at around 27°CEvening temperatures are also very warm at around 21°C. You'll need lots of light summer clothing like t-shirts, shorts, and swimwear if you're visiting at this time of year, and maybe a cardigan or two for after dark. Don't forget to pack lots of suncream as well, as the sun is fierce during the summer months.

Rainfall

Because of its location so close to the equator, Puerto Vallarta has a tropical climate that is separated into the dry season and rainy season. The summer months, from June to September, make up the rainy season, where you'll encounter a lot of rainfall. During this month, you'll see an average of 183mm fall so it's very likely you'll get caught in a downpour. Remember to pack an umbrella and some waterproofs in your luggage so the showers don't affect your trip too much.

Sunshine Hours

Despite it technically being summertime, the hours of sunshine begin to diminish in June, replaced instead by heavy rain clouds. But, with around 9 hours of sunshine per day, there's still plenty of time to discover everything that Puerto Vallarta has to offer.

Sea Temperature

Whilst the weather may be on the turn, there is still a lot of opportunities to check out the popular beaches of Puerto Vallarta. At this time of year the sea temperatures are a positively tropical 28°C, providing the perfect conditions for swimming.

The crowds begin to disappear in June in Puerto Vallarta as the rainy season begins, so it's a great time to explore the culture and sights. It's still warm, though, and in the pockets of time between showers you can hit the numerous beaches around the coast and make the most of the tropical climate.

With soft sands and sparkling blue waters filled with exotic marine life, they provide the perfect place to kick back and relax. Watersports are also very popular in the city, and you'll find plenty of opportunities to try your hand at kitesurfing, windsurfing, and jet-skiing along the coast.

Colomitos Beach

Colomitos Beach is one of the most secluded stretches of sand surrounding the city. It's tiny, too, measuring only around 100 feet in length and you can only get to it by water taxi or a leisurely hike through the mountainous scenery. It's a great spot for snorkelling and SCUBA diving thanks to the relatively uninterrupted waters, and the remote location provides a much needed dose of peace and quiet.

Olas Atlas Beach

Olas Altas Beach is a lot livelier than Colomitos, and is located much closer to the centre of the action in Puerto Vallarta. The main draw of this beach is the great selection of restaurants and bars that surround it providing the ideal escape from the inevitable tropical showers.
