Many visitors to the resort of Puerto de Pollensa choose to spend a day in nearby Cap de Formentor, a peninsula to the west of Puerto de Pollensa which is Majorca's most northerly point. The best way to access the cove is by public bus, though driving and taking the ferry is another option. The scenery in Cap de Formentor is breath-taking, with rugged cliffs, secluded beaches and a lighthouse.
The Pollensa Market is held every Sunday in October in the main town centre and offers tourists the opportunity to find fresh produce at low prices. The market sells everything from fish, meats and cheeses to flowers and local crafts.
More active tourists can make the most of the milder October weather by walking through the Tramuntana mountain range to Cala San Vicente. The walk takes a couple of hours and is best done in the early morning, before the temperatures rise. The small but beautiful beach resort of Cala San Vicente is the perfect place to while away a day.
