Located in the north of the island of Majorca just 10km from Alcudia, Puerto de Pollensa is a popular holiday destination for couples and families. March is a great month to visit Puerto de Pollensa. Outside of the peak holiday season, prices will be lower but there's still a good chance of some warm and sunny days.

Puerto de Pollensa has a mild Mediterranean climate all year round, but March sees the weather improving slightly after the colder and wetter months of winter. Try the Pollensa Park Hotel and Spa, which has picturesque sea views and pretty tree-lined grounds with excellent value rooms. The hotel is ideally located just 100 metres from the beach and 50 metres from the nearest shops and bars. Facilities at the Pollensa Park Hotel and Spa include a large swimming pool, a buffet restaurant, a sports area and a kid's splash park.

Visitors to Puerto de Pollensa can also choose to stay at the Duva Aparthotel. Located on the outskirts of Puerto de Pollensa, 900m from the beach and 1.5km from the centre of town, the four star hotel is perfect for those looking for a quieter stay in luxurious surroundings. Guests can relax by the pool or in the spa or take advantage of the tennis, archery or bike rental facilities. There's also a buffet style restaurant where guests can enjoy all-inclusive dining.

 

On sunnier days in March, most tourists take to the beach and sea for windsurfing, snorkelling, or simply basking on the soft white sand. The resorts main beach, Pollensa beach, is nearly 1.5km long and is a Blue Flag beach that stretches along the horseshoe bay. Tourists can rent sun loungers and parasols and there are toilets and showers available.

Alternatively, holiday makers can choose the resorts smaller but equally as pretty beach, Platja d'Albercuix. This beach is narrower and often less busy, making it a great choice for families with small children.

One of Puerto de Pollensa's most popular restaurants is Corb Mari, which re-opens for the summer season in March. The restaurant serves some of the best meat from Spain cooked on a traditional Majorcan oak barbecue for a delicious flavour. Corb Mari is located at the start of the Pine Walk and has a beautiful outdoor terrace where guests can relax overlooking the sea.

Seafood lovers are recommended to head to Reial Club Nàutic to try their fresh fish and lobster caldereta. Located in Puerto Pollensa Marina with views across the bay, the luxurious yacht club and restaurant is the perfect setting for couples to enjoy a romantic meal.

For drinks after dinner, there's no better place that Nostalgia Bar and Bistro near Church Square. Nostalgia is a fun place for everyone, with nightly entertainment and karaoke which creates a lively atmosphere. A great range of draught beers, wines and cocktails are available here.

As the weather improves, most visitors to Puerto de Pollensa in March spend much of their time relaxing by the pool or on the beach. However, Puerto de Pollensa has more to offer than just the beach.

For the more active tourists, cycling to the Serra De Tramuntana mountain range is a great way to spend the day. Most tourists choose to hire both road and mountain bikes from a bicycle store such as Maria's Bicycles. This store also organises day excursions, complete with packed lunches, trained guides, and maps which are perfect for beginners or novices.

March 1st marks the Balearics Day, a public holiday celebrated in resorts and towns across Majorca. The day commemorates the signing of the Statute of Autonomy on 1st March 1983. Festivities  in the area include concerts, traditional markets and open-air fiestas which tourists can take part in alongside locals.

If you love to shop, spend a day exploring the shops located behind the port in Puerto de Pollensa. The cobbled streets are home to a small selection of chic boutiques and stores selling everything from perfumes to leather goods. There's also a market in Puerto de Pollensa every Wednesday morning where tourists can buy local arts and crafts.
