What's the Weather like in Puerto de la Duquesa in October

Temperature

Autumn comes to Puerto de la Duquesa with healthy amounts of precipitation, but also an abundance of sunshine and a warm Alboran Sea to still enjoy a late summer holiday on this part of the Spanish coastline. The average temperature is a great 20°C, while the hotter days reach an average high of 22°C. The nights get cooler, reaching a low of 17°C, while humidity rises to a 70% average, with non-oppressive dew points. The overall feel of October is warm and sunny, with the last two weeks of the month experiencing more precipitation as winter slowly draws near.

Average Sunshine Hours

The days are shorter, with up to 9 hours of sunshine, and an encouraging 32% chance of full-on sunny days.

Rainfall

Chances of clouds stay low at 5% while chances of rainy days are moderate at 21% on average, with a rainfall volume expected to reach 95mm over the course of 12 days. This roughly translates into a mild and well-balanced autumn, surprisingly sunny for this time of the year.

Wind

Chances of windy days are low at 6% on average, most of them now shifting from North African dry winds to eastern and north-eastern Mediterranean influences, cooler and more humid, encouraging autumn to truly settle into this part of southern Spain.

Average Sea Temperature

The beautiful sea lowers its temperature slowly to 21°C, which is still an excellent condition for swimming and other marine activities. We strongly recommend that you stick to such water fun on the hotter days of the month, so as not to risk catching a cold with lower air temperatures contrasting with the warm waters. The currents are relatively calm, but you can also expect choppy waters and high tides in the early morning those are usually great for windsurfing and paddle boarding.

Beach in Puerto de la Duquesa for October

Main Beach

Although the later half of the month is most likely to bring more rain than sun, you can still enjoy some fun times at the beach during the first and second week of October. In fact, on the hotter days you can even engage in long sunbathing sessions, swimming and snorkelling around the rocky shores of Puerto de la Duquesa.

Playa La Galera

If the main beach near the marina isn't enough for you, head down to Playa La Galera, which is now less crowded but equally charming. It's a quiet stretch of soft sand, which also incorporates Buenas Noches Beach, framed by a few buildings and a plethora of wild trees and shrubs. It's a natural beauty and a more secluded gem of Manilva, well worth the time. Some chiringuitos are still open nearby, even in October.

Bars and Restaurants

El Balneario

Go all out and make your way up to Malaga, on Calle Bolivia, to be precise. There's a wonderful restaurant there called El Balneario. It's beach terrace opens out to the stunningly azure Balearic Sea, and its cuisine serves some of the finest Andalusian and Moroccan specialities out there. The staff are friendly and professional, the service is fast, and the meat and fish quality are definitely worth mentioning. They're open even in autumn, particularly during the first 2 weeks of the month, when the weather is still beach-good.

Penguin Bar

Penguin Bar sits in the heart of Puerto de la Duquesa's old town centre, framed by a long alleyway with whitewashed buildings from one end to the other they serve wines and spirits, as well as light snacks and tapas. The clientele is normally quite young and fun loving, so expect the evenings to give it quite the buzz. The general atmosphere is casual and relaxed, and the music tends to engage people into shaking a leg as midnight approaches.

Los Naranjos evokes a welcoming and charming sort of atmosphere, complete with a fine dining restaurant and a terrace with spectacular views of the course and the natural surroundings this is one of Robert Trent Jones Senior's masterpieces, designed close to perfection and dedicated to professional golf players worldwide.
