The average temperature hits a beautiful 24°C, with nights cool and pleasant at 20°C. The hotter days will most certainly exceed the 28°C average high, and the low humidity of 63% makes a summer holiday absolutely perfect on the southern coast of Spain.

The days are long, with up to 14 hours of glorious sunshine, and an impressive 74% chance of full bright skies, uninterrupted by rain or clouds.

Average Sea Temperature
The sea temperature reaches a superb 23°C, encouraged by subtropical currents also flowing from the southern regions of the Mediterranean. The tides are low and there's little disturbance out at sea, and wind speeds not exceeding the 30kmh average make for near perfect sailing and windsurfing conditions.
However, as attractive as this may sound, we strongly recommend that you do not overlook the importance of good SPF lotions while the weather is hot and wonderful, unprotected skin will suffer from overexposure to the midday sun.

Playa Sabinillas
July is the undisputed month of sunbathing, swimming and engaging in all sorts of fun marine activities. One of the best beaches around is Playa Sabinillas, a 2km long stretch of fine sand, just east of Puerto de la Duquesa. It's only about 40m wide and its water entrance is shallow and clear, making it a favourite for families with children.
It's also quite an urban beach, attracting plenty of youth, as it's flanked by a delightful promenade, apartment buildings and funky restaurants and terraces. There are also plenty of chirinquitos to enjoy, as well as watch towers and shower facilities.
This beach is extremely clean and safe, and a proud bearer of the European Blue Flag award, and thus heavily recommended.
Playa del Negro
Playa del Negro is a beautiful veil of fine sand dunes resting between Cala de la Sardina and the Alcorin Stream. It's flanked by bold hills rolling into the shoreline, and is home to some interesting and unique species of dune vegetation. Its waters are also preferred by fine tuna specimens, reasons for which you'll always see fishing boats hanging out at sea.
But most importantly, its clean and shallow waters and rocky borders make it a peaceful and secluded area, perfect for relaxation and bliss underneath the glorious sun.

The karaoke nights are equally delightful, especially since many people need many drinks in order to gather enough courage and sing their hearts out and so, good times and hilarity automatically ensue.
Things to do in Puerto de la Duquesa in July
Marina
With such excellent weather, you can easily go around the marina and explore the historical landmarks nearby. This part of the coast was repeatedly contested by both Christian and Moorish invaders, hence there is a plethora of fortresses and structures left behind, all of them reminiscent of 16th century architecture and Arab design influences.
Perhaps one of the most important historical treasures here is Castillo de la Duquesa, a massive stone fortress with towers and imposing gates, with canons posted at the main entrance and rocky staircases leading up to breath-taking views of the surrounding hills, mountains and deep blue sea.
Banos de la Hedionda
Deep within the valley stretching below the villages of Manilva, resting between lush forests and swirling rural pathways, you'll find Banos de la Hedionda thermal sulphur baths renowned across the entire country for their therapeutic and healing properties.
This ancient Roman establishment owes its existence to a spring rich in sulphur, which flows out of a limestone outcrop just above the wide valley. It was once an ample and intricate set of bathing chambers, of which four remain to this day, and it's known to have once welcome Julius Caesar himself.
This is a truly beautiful and interesting place, combining ancient infrastructures with natural healing waters, and incredibly popular amongst the locals you'll have a hard time finding a spot on Sunday afternoons, for example.
However, during the week this archaeological site is generally quite empty, and easy to explore, with tunnels and archways built between chambers. You can even enjoy a picnic on the green grass growing around the structure, and visit the nearby ruins of 18th century farms that reused the ancient Roman masonry.
