Things to do in Puerto de la Cruz in November

Ermita de San Telmo Chapel was built in 1780 by the local sea farers guild and dedicated to Saint Erasmus, the patron saint of seamen. The chapel is very basic inside but does hold a four hundred year old image of the saint, preserved in a small shrine. The gardens of the Chapel used to house the San Telmo battery which defended ships in the adjacent harbour of Limpio del Rey cove against pirate attacks. A few sections of this small fortification remain including the lookout post and parts of the pitch-pine palisades.

Abaco house was built in the early 18th centuary as wedding present from the 11th Conde de la Gomera to his new wife, Dona Marina Leonor Ponte.  The mansion has an adjacent oratory that was also built by the Conde de la Gomera, which is lavishly decorated and adorned with an image of San Antonio or Saint Anthony.  In 1993 the mansion was restored to its former glory and opened as a museum to the public. The museum houses tapestries and paintings from the 17th and 18th centauries as well as furniture collections from various European countries from the same time period. On a few evenings every week the museum is open and cocktails are served while classical music is performed.
