La Herreria is on a quiet street a few blocks back from the beach in the historic centre of town. They serve Spanish style meat and seafood dishes. They seating is all indoors and they have a fireplace for cold night. The specialties include steak cooked on a stone and a giant seafood platter that includes the best the island has to offer. Things to do in Puerto de la Cruz in December
The Chapel of San Amaro is the oldest church in Puerto de la Cruz and was built in 1591. The church was part of a mission to convert areas of spiritual significance to the local inhabitants to a Christian use. Local inhabitants built the church and it was looked after by the Dominican monks from the Convent of Saint Benedict from 1593 until it was abandoned in the early 1700's. In 1713 the chapel was given to the Valois family along with its surrounding land on condition that they restored the chapel. Today the chapel gives an interesting insight into the missionary history of the island as well as being a functioning church.
The Oriental Spa Garden at the Hotel Botanico is arguably the most luxurious spa in Puerto de la Cruz. They offer a wide range of treatments that are available on a day pass to the spa.
