Things to do in Protaras in April
April is of course Easter season, and as the sun begins to shine more and more, the festivities for Easter weekend begin. Ayia Napa is home to many celebrations and concerts, with traditional Greek-Cypriot dancing to enjoy, as well as heading to Paralimni on the local bus for a range of other festivities. On Easter Sunday you will see plenty of colourful events around Protaras itself, which are great fun to get involved in.
The beach starts to become busier as April begins, and the improvement in the weather means more water-sports become possible, especially in Fig Tree Bay. Swimming, paragliding, jet-skiing, these are just a few activities you can enjoy as the sun beats down. Alternatively, you can view the underwater residents of this part of Cyprus and the surrounding waters by heading to the Ocean Aquarium, situated between Protaras and Paralimni, which you can easily reach by local bus. A great day out for the family, as well as those simply interested in marine-life, you'll find over 400 species of fish, including an interesting Penguin House.
Sunny, dry weather means you can easily get out and do a few recreational sports whilst you're in Protaras, before the extreme heat comes, and Moonshine Ranch is certainly the place to go if you're into horse-riding, or maybe you fancy something a little more adrenaline-boosting, in which case head off speedball zorbing for an hour or two.
