What's the weather like in Praia da Luz in March
With spring making an appearance, the weather continues to improve in Praia da Luz, just like in the capital, Lisbon, and the country as a whole. This is evident in the flowers opening up around the countryside, and the greener look to the resort overall; the blooming of spring is a wonderful sight to see.
Temperature
It's all good news as far as the weather is concerned, and during the day, temperatures can rise up to a pleasant 17°C at the hottest point, cooling down to around 11°C after the sun sets - be prepared and pack warmer clothes if you are heading out in the late afternoon or early evening. On average however, March experiences an average air temperature of around the 14°C mark overall, which is mild indeed, and is more likely to hit the higher temperature bracket as the month progresses, April arrives and summer moves a little closer.
Rainfall
Rain is reduced as the third month arrives, however it is still present, affecting around 12 days out of the month, to a level of 57mm overall. Downpours at this time are unlikely to be prolonged, which means you simply need to remember an umbrella if you're out and about exploring the resort and surrounding countryside or towns.
Sunshine Hours
This is made even easier because the sun shines for around 8 hours per day now spring has arrived, which again shows that summer will not be too long either.
Sea Temperature
Despite all this, water-sports and swimming are still a little too early to enjoy, as the average water temperature sits at a chilly 14°C for the third month in a year. If you're heading off diving or snorkeling, basically any water-based activity which involves a wet-suit, then you will be fine to do so, however swimming or splashing will leave you a little on the cold side!
