What's the weather like in Praia da Luz in July
July is right in the heart of summer in Portugal, and the many coastal resorts are now bustling with tourists enjoying the beautiful sunny weather and high temperatures, happy to soak up the rays and grab that envious tan to take back home.
Whilst holiday prices do take a slight rise as the month goes on, usually to coincide with school holidays commencing, there are also many deals to be found during the first half of the month, so it's worth shopping around to be sure.
Temperature
This time of year is probably best avoided for those who don't like too much heat or sun, as the average temperature is 21°C, which rises to an average high of 25°C during the hotter times, usually mid-day, and then falls again during the evening, to an average low of 17°C. If you are offered air conditioning in your hotel, it is probably best to accept them on their offer, as can feel a little 'stuffy' during the night. Despite that, walks at sunset and during a full moon are a wonderful experience along the coastline, and a popular activity to try.
Sunshine Hours
We mentioned sunshine, and there is plenty of that on offer, with 13 long and glorious hours of sunshine to enjoy on average throughout the month, the highest amount experienced in the year, alongside August.
Rainfall
Rain is virtually non-existent, with 2mm of precipitation expected throughout the month, affecting just 1 day, to the point where you will not even notice that 2mm of rain has fallen! You won't need an umbrella, that's for sure.
Because of the plentiful sun and high temperatures, beaches in and around the resort are packed, including nearby Albufeira. The average sea temperature at this time of year is a wonderful 24°C, very similar to the air temperature, and makes for a wonderfully refreshing cool down during a beach day, or for the plentiful water-sports on offer.
