Beaches in Playa Taurito in June
With hot temperatures, sunshine and dry weather, it is no surprise that most visitors to Playa Taurito head straight to the beach. In fact, it is the resort's main attraction. Covered in soft, black volcanic sand, the secluded beach is just 150 metres long but never feels too crowded thanks to its width. Cliffs shelter the beach from winds at both side while its southern position means that the beach is bathed in sunshine all day long.
Playa Taurito beach is perfect for families with children. The water shelves gently from the beach, making it safe for splashing around in, while lifeguards patrol the beach during the day. There's also a range of cafés and bars close by where you can cool off or grab a drink or bite to eat.

If you want to eat out on an evening or try something different though, it is best to head to the neighbouring resort of Puerto de Mógan. Sometimes called Little Venice after its canals and bridges, this charming resort also has a stylish marina area that's full of great restaurants. Here, you can sample fresh seafood, tapas and traditional Canarian and Spanish cuisine at Restaurante Orillas del Mar. The restaurant is frequently filled with locals playing folk music for a true taste of Canarian life.

Las Palmas
Gran Canaria's capital city of Las Palmas is just an hour's drive away from the resort and offers a vibrant and lively contrast. June is a great time to visit the city, when The Fiestas Fundacionales de San Juan, or St John's Day is celebrated. Commemorating the founding of Las Palmas, the event is full of festive cheer, with concerts, arts, children's activities and traditional bonfires. Alternatively, visitors can spend some time wandering around the historic quarter of Vegueta, sampling some traditional Spanish tapas or seeing sights such as the old cathedral.
Anfi Tauro
Golf lovers can enjoy a round or two in the sun when visiting Gran Canaria. The island has a number of courses, the closest to Playa Taurito being Anfi Tauro, an 18-hole course that covers an area in excess of 650,000m². Set in acres of lush green gardens with lakes and waterfalls, this is the perfect place to while away a sunny day in Gran Canaria.
