What's the Weather like in Playa Del Carmen in July

July is well and truly summer in Playa del CarmenMexico, with very warm temperatures and lots of sunshine throughout the day. The resort's location close to the equator means it has a tropical climate, as well as a rainy season and a dry season. July falls into the rainy season with a large amount of rain falling throughout the month. That being said, July is still a great time to visit despite the rains, as there is plenty of sunshine and lots of cultural things to see and do around the resort.

Much like the last couple of months, average temperatures in Playa del Carmen at this time of year hover around 28°C, though during the day temperatures will often rise to a sweltering 32°C and above make sure you pack plenty of sun cream as the sun's rays are really strong. Even in the evenings and at night the temperatures are extremely mild, with the mercury hardly ever falling below 24°C. It is a good idea to pack cool, lightweight clothing for the daytimes, like t-shirts, shorts, and swimwear. It is unlikely you'll need anything warmer, though it is up to you if you wish to stay on the safe side.

The tropical climate in Playa del Carmen means that the summer months are also the wettest time of the year. In July, there is around 156mm of rainfall throughout the month spread over a period of 3 days. It is actually very unlikely you'll experience any rain during your trip with these statistics, but it is a good idea to pack an umbrella and waterproofs just in case. Often, when it does rain, the showers will come in short, sharp bursts and will pass quickly leaving glorious sunshine in their wake this is a benefit of Playa del Carmen's tropical positioning.

Its proximity to the equator also means that there is very little variation in hours of sunshine throughout the year. In July, you can expect to see around 10 hours of sunshine per day, which leaves you plenty of time to get out and about and explore the beaches and the cultural attractions on offer in the resort.

Beach-goers flock to Playa del Carmen for its stunning coastline and warm sea waters. At this time of year, the sea temperatures are a very pleasant 28°C, providing the perfect backdrop for splashing about in the shallows, trying out some watersports, and discovering Mexico's colourful marine life. There is only an 8% chance of a windy day in July, so there is no need to worry about choppy waves and undercurrents.

July is a popular time to visit Playa del Carmen as, even though there is a fair amount of rainfall, the temperatures are extremely pleasant and there is plenty of sunshine.

Playa Del Carmen Beach for July

Soliman Bay Beach is one of the lesser-visited stretches of shoreline in the region and sits just to the south of Playa del Carmen.
