What's the Weather like in Playa Del Carmen in June

Temperature

June marks the start of the summer season in Playa del CarmenMexico, and the temperatures are extremely warm at this time of year. Summer is also the rainy season, though, thanks to the resort's tropical positioning so close to the equator, and June sees a massive increase in rainfall from the previous months. Despite this, the days are still long and filled with sunshine, and there is plenty to see and do around town.

Average temperatures in June are very warm, sitting at around 28°C, though this can often rise to a sweltering 32°C and above during the hotter parts of the day. The evenings and nights in June are very pleasant, too, with low temperatures rarely dropping below 25°C. This means that you won't need to pack any thick layers unless you want to. During the day, t-shirts, shorts, and swimwear will suffice, and remember to pack plenty of sun cream as the sun is seriously strong at this time of year.

Rain

The rainy season begins in June in Playa del Carmen, bringing tropical showers to the shores. Throughout the month there is around 173mm of rainfall over an average of 1 day. This means that if you do encounter any showers on your trip, they are likely to be in heavy bursts and will pass quickly to leave warm weather and glorious sunshine in their wake. It is a good idea to pack an umbrella if you are visiting at this time, and maybe even some waterproofs if you are planning on spending a lot of time outdoors.

Sunshine Hours

Thanks to its central location near the equator, Playa del Carmen sees hardly any change in the average amount of sunshine hours per day throughout the year. Even though June is the start of the summer, the total hours of sunshine during the day is actually less than in the previous months. You can expect to see around 10 hours per day, which is still plenty of time to go out and explore all that the resort has to offer.

Average Sea Temperature

Visitors to Playa del Carmen flock to the beaches, even in the rainy season. The resort is known for its stunning white-sand shorelines and clear, shallow waters and, at this time of year, the sea temperatures are a very pleasant 28°C, making them perfect for swimming, snorkelling, and splashing around in. There is only a 19% chance of a windy day in June, so it is unlikely that you'll have to watch out for rogue currents and dangerous waves.

June in Playa del Carmen does see a lot of rain, but for the most part the month is relatively dry with plenty of warm sunshine a great time to explore the Mexican coast.
