What's the Weather like in Playa Del Carmen in April

Temperatures begin to soar in April in Playa del CarmenMexico. The resort is heading towards the summer months, which means that the days are long and warm. Playa del Carmen's tropical climate means that the resort experiences a wet season and a dry season. April falls in the dry season, so there is hardly any rain throughout the month. This is a great time of year to visit because of the high temperatures, long hours of sunshine and lack of rainfall the perfect climate to explore the cultural attractions and beaches in the resort.

Average temperatures in April usually sit at a very warm 27°C, though this can often rise to a scorching 31°C and above during the hotter parts of the day. If you are visiting Playa del Carmen at this time of year, you can expect the evenings and nights to be very mild as well, with average low temperatures barely dropping below 23°C. T-shirts, shorts, and swimwear are ideal for April, but you might also want to slip in a thin cardigan or jumper just in case it gets a bit nippy after dark. It's important to pack lots of sun cream as well, because Mexico's tropical sun is very hot at this time of year.

April is fast approaching the wet season in Playa del Carmen so it sees more rainfall than the previous months, though it is still a minimal amount. If you do, they will often be short, sharp bursts that pass quickly, leaving clear blue skies in their wake.

It is surrounded by a great selection of restaurants, bars, and shops, and in the centre of all the cultural attractions not to mention near the beach. Rooms are elegant and contemporary, with whitewashed walls and crisp white bedding, pops of colour, ambient lighting, and sleek, modern furniture. The hotel focuses on supplying guests with bespoke, inspiring experiences, and this is evident in everything from the large, vibrant wall murals, to the luxurious cocktail bar overlooking the Caribbean Sea. The in-house restaurant serves a contemporary mix of fusion cuisine, including a four-part taster menu that offers experimental flavours and local, fresh ingredients. 

For a rustic, intimate stay, check into the Aventura Mexico boutique hotel, which boasts lush tropical gardens, cosy courtyards, several sundecks, and two large swimming pools. Rooms are simple and elegant with tiled floors, crisp white colour palettes, and pretty pastel pictures on the walls. All rooms have private balconies, too, with views either over the pool or gardens. Guests can enjoy the island inspired décor of the Mayan Bistro which is known for its delicious fresh fish dishes, but guests can also grab a hearty continental breakfast here in the mornings to kick-start their day.

For a more intimate, romantic stay, there's always Playa del Carmen's premier boutique hotel, the Luna Blue Hotel, which caters only for adults over eighteen. The award-winning accommodation has a selection of bright spacious rooms decorated in pastel blues and white with traditional tiled floors and private balconies. The in-house bar is a nod towards the hotel's island lifestyle, with a jungle waterfall and bamboo dividers providing a cosy, tropical experience, plus there is also a courtyard area where guests can sit and soak up the sun.

 

Playa Del Carmen Beach for April

The stretch of sand in front of Parque Fundadores is the perfect spot to lay down your towels for a fun-filled day at the beach. Just north of the Cozumel Ferry Pier, it boasts sprawling sands and clear, shallow waters that are ideal for watersports. It is extremely close to the centre of Playa del Carmen, putting you in the middle of all the action, plus there are a number of great restaurants and beach bars surrounding it.

Jade Bay is actually situated in Akumal, a town in between Playa del Carmen and Tulum. There are a collection of small villages dotted along this part of the coast, giving the beach an authentic, local vibe. It's a great stretch of shoreline for taking a walk along thanks to the endless white sand and the sparkling blue waters, plus it offers a certain peace and quiet that is not quite possible on the main beaches of Playa del Carmen.

Bars and Restaurants 

Los Tabernacos Bistro Lounge is a laidback bar and restaurant perfect for a catch up with friends. The décor is simple but cosy, with dim lighting and plenty of bright colours. In addition to serving a great selection of drinks and food, the bar regularly shows sports games on their large-screen television. The menu offers an international array of dishes, from Canadian poutine and Caribbean ceviche to Italian lasagne and American hamburgers.

Chocolate lovers will not want to miss Ah Cacao, a dedicated chocolate café in the heart of Playa del Carmen. As well as providing a selection of sweet treats and tasting samples, this ethical eatery also doubles up as a shop where you can pop in and pick up some of the handmade, organic chocolate products. The small, contemporary interior is the perfect place to grab a coffee and a quick bite to eat, whilst the intimate terrace area out the front is a great spot to watch the world go by from.

L'Atelier de Fred is a beautifully rustic café and restaurant that serves food throughout the day. Pop in in the morning for a delicious, freshly brewed coffee and a homemade croissant, or grab a table at lunchtime or in the evening for a laidback dining experience. The menu includes a selection of crisp salads, fresh fish dishes, casseroles, and savoury crepes. Don't forget to have dessert, too, as the sumptuous homemade cakes are some of the best in the resort.

Things to do in Playa Del Carmen in April 

If you are looking for the perfect souvenir then head to Sol Jaguar, which is located on Playa del Carmen's bustling Fifth Avenue. This intimate, family-run shop has been trading for years, selling a variety of beautiful handmade arts and crafts from around Mexico. From local artworks to textiles and clothing, there is bound to be the perfect gift to remind you of your holiday.

Espacio Natura offer a visitors a unique way to explore Playa del Carmen and the surrounding regions. By opting to do a jeep safari, you can get up close and personal with the abundant wildlife that surrounds the resort, as well as explore trails and villages that can't be reached any other way. It is a great way to get to know the area whilst enjoying the beautiful views of the Mexican coast.

Animal lovers won't want to miss a visit to the Bel Air Animal Park, which houses hundreds of native species of animals. It is a fun day out for all the family, with a selection of animal feedings, amusement park rides, and swimming pools, as well as the chance to learn more about some of the critters that call the park home.
