Temperature

Both calimas and siroccos are caused by severe sand storms which are blown across the Atlantic from the west coast of Africa. Although they can be predicted days or even weeks in advance, their duration is always unpredictable they can last anywhere between a few hours up to ten days.
Whilst they aren't of serious concern during the winter months, calimas and siroccos can both be very dangerous during summer especially August when temperatures can rise up to 20°C higher than the average.
