What's the Weather Like in Phuket in June

June is in the monsoon season in Phuket but many people come here for the night life and the festivals that occur all year round. Rainfall is increasing though in June the rain comes in stronger and shorter showers with much of the day being sunny.

Rain

Average rainfall is 240mm that will fall over 16 to 18 days. You can expect to see more rain towards the end of the month as the monsoon gets into full swing where September will see 400mm of rain. Don't worry about the number of rainy days as there are number of museum and activities that are inside for you to enjoy. Even though wet, the weather here is rarely cold due to its proximity to the equator.

Temperature

The average temperature is 29°C that sits between the average high/low temperatures of 25°C and 32°C. Higher night time temperatures are ideal for visiting open air venues and experiencing the varied night life on offer.

Humidity

Coupled with an average humidity of 85%, the temperature may feel hotter than it really is. Many of the resorts will have air conditioned rooms but even a fan moving the room around makes it feel more comfortable. Humidity stays relatively steady till the high of 90% during September.

Sunshine

Average sunshine hours number 7 which are the lowest seen all year and are due to the cloud conditions from the monsoon. This will increase towards the end of the month with July and August having 8 hours a day each.

Sea Temperature

The ocean temperature remains stable here for much of the year with June having an average sea temperature of 30°C. You can swim at this time of the year but some beaches have larger waves and stronger undertows due to the monsoon so you need to follow advice from life guards about beach conditions.

Fog

Foggy days are rare at this time of the year but expect to see at least one foggy day in June and July before they increase around September.

Ao Yon Beach

Ao Yon Beach is one of those hidden beaches not visited by many tourists but here you could be lucky enough to see the local dragon Boats practicing their rowing techniques. You will need to park in the main road and walk down to the beach.

This beach is located between Cape Panwa and Panwa Beach and has a backdrop of palm trees and a few small eateries to choose from. Nai Thon Beach

Located in the Sirinath national park is Nai Thon Beach another undeveloped stretch of squeaky clean sand. Located at Laguna a narrow road takes you to the beach past remnant jungle and you can go scuba diving from here and it can be hired from the dive shop in Beach Road. The sea here is flat during the peak season but is quite rough with large waves the rest of the year.

Layan Beach

Layan Beach is separated by a river channel from Bang Tao Beach and is surrounded by Casuarina trees and palms. This is a quieter beach than more popular beaches and at low tide you can nearly walk to the island just off the beach. The water here is too shallow for snorkelling but the unspoilt nature of the area more than makes up for any water sports.
