The steak dishes here are hugely popular, with a creamy peppercorn sauce, as well as the equally delicious and fresh fish tartare starter. For a sweet choice, the caramel fondant is a winner, oozing with hot, caramel sauce encased in a gorgeous chocolate sponge!
Things to do in Paris in October
Musee du Louvre
A trip to Paris isn't complete without stopping by the Musee du Louvre, on the Right Bank in the 1st arrondissement. This gallery is one of the most famous in the world and is home to the internationally-renowned Mona Lisa portrait and world-famous Venus de Milo statue.
Here you'll find more than 35,000 objects from prehistory to the 21st century which are divided between themed temporary and permanent exhibitions which cover more than 60,600 square metres.
The best way to experience the art gallery is by signing up for one of the guided tours. But if you're on a tight budget, you can download one of the app guides or follow the thematic visitor trails instead. After you're finished exploring the art gallery, chill out in one of the cafes or restaurants before hitting the gift shop on your way out.
Les Catacombes
For something more historical, how about visiting Les Catacombes? These catacombs are underground ossuaries which hold the remains of around six million civilians, earning them the title of "The World's Largest Grave". Les Catacombes has been open to the public since the late 18th century and has regularly hosted temporary exhibits ever since. In 2014, the main exhibition was "The Sea in Paris" which allowed visitors to learn all about the geological heritage of the catacombs which began around 45 million years ago. Details about this year's main exhibition have yet to be reveleaed, so check the website closer to the time to see what will be on during your holiday. In addition to signing up for the temporary exhibition, you can also go on a catacomb discovery tour available in English at least once each week to find out everything there is to know about the underground cemetery.
The Musee National des Arts Asiatiques-Guimet is a fantastic place to visit if you're looking for a break from French art and culture. This exotic museum provides you with a direct route to Asia through all sorts of artwork, ranging from Buddha figures and Samurai armour made in Japan to Indian textiles and Chinese fine art.
In addition to the permanent collections, you'll find ongoing workshops, activities and events suitable for all ages here. Highly regarded as the largest museum devoted to Asian art in Europe, the Musee National des Arts Asiatiques-Guimet is also home to a café and a bookshop where you can pick up gifts for friends and family back home.
Montmartre
Montmartre is one of the most popular neighbourhoods in Paris and it's no wonder why. With winding streets to explore, plenty of tourist attractions, cafes, wine bars, restaurants and shops, there's loads to see and do here. This section of Paris always has a very colourful atmosphere, with locals and visitors merging together in the streets, boutiques and eateries.
Whilst Montmartre is very pleasant to visit during the daytime, the best time to visit is just before sunset. Grab yourself a glass of wine at one of the many bars and watch the sun set in the distance before the night sets in and the twinkling lights of Paris turn on.
