Types of Holidays

Situated in the popular holiday destination of Majorca, Palma Nova is easy to reach.

As Majorca is only an hour and a half flight from London, it is suited to almost any type of holiday â" from a weekend break to a three-week holiday.

Best Time to Go

Like the UK, Palma Nova has the hottest weather in the summer months from May to September.

In addition to the warmer weather, Palma Nova is drier in summer, with July averaging just 9mm of rain over four days, while September averages 50mm over five days.

Sunshine also varies throughout the year, averaging six hours a day in December and January compared to 13 hours in July, with 12 hours in June and August.

If low cost is more important than the weather though, then the colder months will be cheaper and have fewer tourists.

Sights to See

As Palma City has a rich history and there are a number of historical and cultural sites to visit.

Ten minutes outside of Palma Nova are the Caves of G¨nova. Tourists can have a guided group tour to discover the past of the caves.

Bellver Castle is a Gothic style castle and to this day is one of only a few circular castles to be found in Europe. Although it was for a long time used as a military prison, from the 18th to mid-20th Century, it is now under civilian control and one of the islandâs main tourist attractions.

The Museum of Modern Art is also well worth a visit. Original works of both Picasso and Cezanne are housed here.

The Pirates Adventure Show is an extremely popular attraction for families, featuring acrobatics, swashbuckling pirates, pyrotechnics and even an uncut version in the evening for the adults.

The Palma Nova Western Park theme park is perfect for the family who wants a few thrills, with numerous water slides, wild-west themed attractions and a lazy river which you can float on on an inflatable.

Activities

Water sports are some of the most popular activities in Palma Nova.

There are plenty of different activities that can be done on the beaches, including jet skiing, water skiing, parasailing and snorkelling.

Real water sports enthusiasts can head to Puerto Pollensa, where some of the best windsurfing on the island can be found.

Scuba diving is also a very popular sport and Palma Nova has excellent conditions for it, with clear visibility and warm water ideal for exploring the coral reef and marine life.  There are a number of diving schools in the area so everyone from experienced divers to novices can have a go. The Big Blue Diving Centre is one popular diving school in the area.

Beaches

Palma Nova has three beaches on offer.

Playa Es Carregador is the biggest and most popular beach, which is lined by a promenade that extends all the way to nearby Magaluf. Alternatively, you can try Playa Palma Nova or Playa Son Matias.

Nightlife

If you want a really wild night out, Magaluf is the clubbersâ paradise and it is close to Palma Nova.

Magalufâs infamous Strip is the place to head for a night out, where most of the bars and clubs are situated. There are plenty of drinks deals to be had at the bars before heading out to one of the clubâs to continue the night until the early hours.

With five floors, BCM is Europeâs largest club. The famous club holds different events and parties each night of the week and is not to be missed if youâre looking for a big night out.

Magaluf may be famous for its nightlife, but Palma Nova also has plenty on offer.

The Pacha nightclub, located on the resortâs outskirts, is a very popular nightclub, with plenty of different events on throughout the week, including foam parties.

For a more relaxed night, there are also a number of bars in Palma Nova.

Hennessyâs World of Sport Bar, for example, is a popular bar that will keep sports fans happy, showing live sporting events on the big screen.

Accommodation

Palma Nova has its fair share of good accommodation, with hotels and apartments to cater to everyoneâs tastes and budgets.

Aguabeach is an affordable option located next to the beach and is within walking distance of Pala Novaâs centre.

Families may well prefer Viva Palmanova, situated just 200 metres from the beaches. The aparthotel has three swimming pools â" a general pool complete with large sun terrace, childrenâs pool with water games and pirate boat, and a chill-out pool. There is also a sports ground, sauna, Jacuzzi, gym, and childrenâs playground.

Hotel Intertur Hawaii Mallorca is another popular option. The all inclusive hotel is ideally located, right on the beach, and the discount room prices mean youâll be able to stay here regardless of your budget.
