Palma Nova is a town located on the southwest coast of Majorca. It was awarded a Blue Flag award for being a well maintained and sustainable resort and is suitable for families with children, or singles who are looking for a great party spot in the summer time. It's finally beginning to warm up in Palma Nova in May as the average daytime temperature high reaches around 23°C (74°F). It's very balmy in May and swimming is a distinct possibility on sunny days.

Skies over Palma Nova tend to be mostly clear or partly cloudy in May. Chance of rain is around 22-31%, mostly occurring at the beginning of the month. Rainfall is moderate with the occasional thunderstorm or drizzle.

The air ranges from comfortable to very humid, and tends to be most humid around May 1. Winds blow around 7 m/s, usually from the southwest of the northeast.

Over the course of May, Palma Nova prepares itself for summer. Temperatures jump to highs of 23°C, clouds and rains diminish, and the day lengthens--perfect conditions for enjoying summer.

If you want to take advantage of the nearby attractions of Magaluf, the TRH Palmanova Hotel is located close to the strip in Magaluf. It's an ideal base for younger tourists who want to take full advantage of the nightlife.

Hotel Marina Torrenova (Avda. Torrenova 6) is an adults-only all-inclusive. The resort includes meals, snacks, most drinks, and some activities. Located just 16 km from the airport, the hotel is within walking distance to several beaches, restaurants, shops, and bars. Onsite facilities include A/C, pool, children's splash-pool, restaurant, free wifi, and game room.

Ponent Mar (CL Marques de la Torre 9) is an aparthotel that caters to families. Choose from a standard apartment, seaview, or a studio with kitchenette. Furnished flats include bathroom, A/C, TV, wifi, and kitchen--and some are equipped with a large terrace. Onsite facilities include three restaurants, bar, outdoor swimming pool, heated pool and sauna, gymnasium, and supermarket.

The beaches of Palma Nova are just a short 15 km west of the airport. The sands tend to be quieter and more tranquil than those in Magaluf.

There are three beaches beside the town--Playa Carregador, Playa Palma Nova and Playa Son Maties. Alongside all beaches are restaurants, bars, and free car parking.

The former is a 600-metre stretch of fine sand, good for enjoying water activities like boating or windsurfing. The latter is where you can find all the bars and nightclubs. Playa Palma Nova is a nice middle ground, at 1 kilometre interspersed with small playgrounds. It's a great place for families and couples alike.

Port O'Call (Paseo del Mar 16-18) is a reliable restaurant near the mini-golf course that serves pasta, seafood and meat dishes. The ambiance is welcoming and the food absolutely delicious. Be sure to try the ribs that fall off the bone and the white chocolate pannacotta.

Smooy (Paseo del Mar 20) is a delicious little frozen yoghurt place, great to keep the summer's scorching heat at bay. You can opt for simple and healthy yoghurt or pour on a choice of toppings, drops, syrups and fruits.

The Chi Lounge (Playa Son Matias) is a trendy place to grab a cocktail on your summery holiday. The vibe is relaxed, the food Asian fusion. Definitely a stop for any beach-goer who likes to hang out in hip company.

The capital of the island of Majorca is Palma de Mallorca which is situated just next to Palma Nova. Many activities and events can be found in Palma de Mallorca. One example is the Son Amar showcase. It is a brilliant show of singers, dancers and even magicians. It's a dinner show package and wine will be served. The Pirates Adventure Show in Palma Nova is similar but geared more towards children and younger audiences. The many shopping outlets and bars in Palma Nova are very much alive this month, though the nightlife is significantly tamer when compared to Magaluf. There are plenty of places to kick back and relax or, for the younger crowd that want a wilder night, Magaluf and the infamous nightlife found there are just minutes away.
