What's the Weather Like in Orlando in August

Temperature

August in Orlando, Florida, is characterised by high heat and humidity, with rain very likely. Similar to July, the average daytime temperatures are around 33°C (about 92°F) so it's not the best time to go to Orlando if you're not used to hot weather. You can't even rely on a drop in temperature at night with average minimum temperatures of around 23°C (about 73°F).

Average Sunshine Hours and Humidity

The average amount of sunshine seen in August is 9 hours per day, and humidity is still around 95%. It is too hot in the middle of the afternoon to do any outdoor activities, so most tourists enjoy going to shopping malls and other indoor attractions during this time. All hotels, taxis and indoor attractions will be air conditioned, but remember to keep yourself hydrated with plenty of water and protect your skin with sun cream when going outside.

As it's still rainy season, the average monthly precipitation for August is around 171 mm. Afternoon thunderstorms are therefore very likely, but usually subside within an hour. It is also hurricane season from June until September and risk levels peak in August.

If you're visiting The Mall at Millenia be sure to check out The Cheesecake Factory which offers more than 200 food options made from scratch every day. From pizza and burgers to steaks and seafood, they're happy to modify anything on the menu to suit your health or dietary needs. The portions are generous so be sure to save room for one of their famous cheesecakes try the Oreo Dream Extreme or the Red Velvet cheesecake.

Slueth's Mystery Dinner Shows

For something a bit different, take the family to one of Sleuth's Mystery Dinner Shows. Conveniently located on International Drive, this comedy show let's you become a detective for the evening. Watch out for anything or anyone suspicious as you take your seat and start your feast. You'll be treated to a hilarious show littered with clues before you form questions for the interrogation. Finish with dessert as you make your final decision on 'whodunit' guess correctly and you'll win a prize! If you go on a Friday why not stay on for Mama's Comedy Show?

Pat O'Briens

In terms of drinking spots, Pat O'Briens on CityWalk Universal is excellent if you want some entertainment while you drink. The authentic reproduction of New Orleans' favourite watering hole is home to a duelling pianos show in the Piano Bar from 5pm daily. If you get peckish you can sample Cajun style appetizers and entrees while the kids enjoy the Li'l Leprechaun Menu. Listen to tunes on the jukebox or catch the game in the Main Bar, or why not try their legendary Hurricane cocktail outside on the Flaming Fountain Patio?

Alchemy Lounge

Shisha fans will love Alchemy Lounge, a trendy wine and hookah lounge with modern décor and a chilled ambience. Kick back on a comfy sofa and listen to Reggae and Hip Hop as you select something from the boutique wine list or choose from an array of exotic hookah flavours. If you stay until 12pm, take part in the midnight dance off for a chance to win a free round of drinks for your table.

The Florida Mall

Shopaholics will love The Florida Mall, the largest of its kind in central Florida with more than 250 stores and restaurants. Shop 'til you drop in American favourites such as Macy's, JCPenney, Saks and Abercrombie & Fitch before hitting the food court. It's open every day from 10am to 10pm and on Sundays from 11am to 8pm, so you can easily make a day of it.

The Mall at Millenia

For a mall on International Drive there's The Mall at Millenia with an enticing selection of International Stores from Hollister to H&M. As well as a fantastic shopping experience they also offer foreign currency exchange, a post office, complimentary push-chairs and wheelchairs as well as a free mobile phone charging station. 

Orlando Premium Outlets

If you'd rather find some bargains on designer brands, head to Orlando Premium Outlets for great savings on Armani, Burberry, Ralph Lauren, Prada and Tommy Hilfiger. It's open every day from 10am to 11pm, and closes on Sundays at 9pm.

Orange County Convention Centre

Why not see what's on at the Orange County Convention Centre on International Drive? It's the second largest convention centre in the USA with 2 million square feet of exhibition space, and it is host to everything from hair and beauty expos to auto shows.

Disney pin collectors should not miss the Pins Around Our World Festival, taking place mid-August at Epcot World Showplace. This four day event showcases rare pin collections and you can buy and trade pins with collectors. Every year twenty new limited-edition pins are released which visitors can bid for. There are also workshops where you can learn pin making from the masters and create pins of your own.
