What's the weather like in Ocho Rios in September

As compared to the rest of the year, September has a relatively high average rainfall expected with a marked increase since August. The month is central to the hurricane season in Jamaica, therefore, visitors should consider the risk of the resort being affected by bad weather at this time of year is moderately higher. That being said, it is not uncommon to have a day of rain and thunderstorms followed by a week or two of sunshine.

Temperature

The tropical location of Ocho Rios, means there is very little variation between various weather averages throughout the year. Average air temperatures expected in September are 29°C. Average sea temperatures this month are also 29°C. With little variation between the air and sea temperatures at this time of year, visitors will have no qualms going into and coming out of the water. In some instances, you may in fact feel cooler coming out of the water rather than staying in it.

Rainfall

Half of the month sees rainfall, with an average of 129mm across 15 days. There's a 40% chance of rain and just a 12% chance of a cloudy day.

Sunshine Hours

Nine hours of sunshine are still expected, and there is a 34% chance that you will have a sunny day. So not to worry, most rain that does fall in Ocho Rios very rarely extends beyond a day or two. There are plenty of umbrellas and restaurants along the main beach that will offer you some shelter from a passing rain shower. Many people find the rain to be a blessing, helping to cool the air and provide some relief from the high humidity.

Wind

There is a 12% chance of a windy day during the month. While having minimal wind might be a blessing to some, it also will result in the air (and you) feeling more warm. Remember to keep up the fluid intake and consider taking refuge from the midday sun under shade.
