101 Sun festival is the new musical event the south of Spain was waiting for. On the 11th and 12th July 2014, the city of Málaga will gather a vast selection of international and local acts, in a line-up to include different music styles and genres that will be celebrated while enjoying wonderful weather, great gastronomy and fun for all.
Franz Ferdinand, one of the most renowned pop bands in the world, will be one of the headliners, taking both their new and acclaimed album ‘Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action’ and classic songs such as ‘Take Me Out’ to Málaga. French band «rinôçérôse» will bring their rock meets dance music hits, after releasing their new EP, ‘Angels & Demons’. Another band, which mixes rock and dance influences, Crystal Fighters, the Londoners famous for taking elements from the Basque culture alongside dubstep sounds. The have recently published their second album, ‘Cave Rave’.
The West Coast band Black Rebel Motorcycle Club will show us why they are one of the favourite names for the dark ran edgy rock lovers over the last decade. British Spector are one of the top new bands in English pop scene, as they proved with their debut album, ‘Enjoy It While It Lasts’. Also from England and for the first time in Spain, the three brothers that form The Family Rain are one of the most surprising and thrilling rock acts, and they are ready to take it to the next level with their new album, ‘Under the Volcano’, and The Struts, the next big thing in the indie rock scene.
101 Sun Festival will also include in its line-up some of the most popular and successful Spanish acts, too. Russian Red, who will release her new album ‘Agent Cooper’, and is known to be an internationally acclaimed folk-pop songwriter, now turning for a rock oriented sound. Lori Meyers are one of the bands formed in the independent music scene that have reached to a higher level of popularity, becoming a classic name in today’s pop scene. Amaral is a classic name, topping the charts since the duo was formed in the late 90s, and now in the middle of recording their new and highly anticipated album. L.A. are known to be one of the most international Spanish bands, having played in many festivals all over the world. Fans and critics darlings Triángulo de Amor Bizarro use pop melodies with a noise rock attitude, and are regarded as one of the loudest and better live bands. Other Spanish acts included in the line-up are We Are Standard, Polock, Havalina, Grises, Kill The Hipsters,La Cena and Fila India.
There will be even more music to enjoy at 101 Sun festival. La Térmica will be a daytimestage with international and local acts playing from 12:00h until 16:00h on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th of July. This will make more than 16 hours of live non-stop shows in this first edition of the festival. The line-up for this stage will be headlined by The Royal Concept, one of the most successful indie rock bands in Sweden. There will be also a strong representation of the best Spanish acts: Second, Jack Knife, Full, Nora Norman, Smile and Maine Coon. This stage will be free for the two day tickets holders (limited capacity, first-come-first-served basis).
