March signifies the first month of spring in Newquay and with it comes the most unpredictable time of year where the weather is concerned.

Newquay's geographic location as a coastal town means it enjoys milder climates than the rest of the country, which is a benefit at this time of year as temperatures are considerably warmer than they may be elsewhere.

While one can comfortably bet on the temperatures being mild and not extreme either way, what is less certain is what the weather will be on any given day.

Spring is an unpredictable time of year and it can be warm and sunny and cold and wet all in the same day, so never take the morning weather as a certain indicator of what the rest of the day will be like.

Although March is a quiet month in terms of events and activities, the marked increase in sunshine throughout the month makes outdoor activities more likely, especially for families with children.

Newquay's beach is a particular hotspot for obvious reasons. There's no secret to why beaches have long been popular choices for families. Those that want to relax on the sand can do, while the more active can take advantage of the water sports on offer, particularly surfing.

Newquay has a number of surf schools so everyone from beginners to the more experienced can enjoy the sport. One is the Quicksilver Surf School.

If the surf is important to you on your holiday, you may want to consider The Hotel in Watergate Bay. It is minutes away from one of the best surf spots in the area and offers rooms at low prices, so is ideal for anyone travelling on a budget. It also has an extreme academy, that teaches everything from kite surfing to hand planing.
