If March marks the beginning of spring, April kicks it off.
Good weather is always welcome and enjoyed regardless of what's to do in town, but in April the village also welcomes spring in style. In late April there is Giant Bolster Weekend, which is a festival rooted in the legendary character Bolster, who is an ill-tempered Cornish giant. Giant Bolster Weekend pays homage to the fantasy giant with theatrical performances and street entertainment, providing a fun and enjoyable day out for all who care to witness it.
For those willing to venture a bit further afield, Trevithick Day also occurs in late April but in Camborne, which is just 20 miles away from Newquay. Trevithick Day is a popular event that is all about celebrating Camborne's mining history, and it does so with a host of free entertainment on the town's main streets, so residents and tourists alike can enjoy all on offer.
If the weather's nice enough for the beach, there's more to them than the sand and surf. Asylum Entertainment provides everything from beach sumo too aqua zorbing equipment, for a different day out on the beach.
Lappa Valley Railway is a great option for a day out with the family and will allow you to explore some of Newquay's scenery away from the beaches.
For those travelling on a budget, the Priory Lodge Hotel is a great option. The hotel is ideally situated, just a short walk from Newquay's centre.
