What's the Weather Like in Nassau in October
October is the peak month of the Atlantic hurricane season, and although Nassau is relatively sheltered from the brunt of any storms which occur, it is always sensible to be on the safe side. If a storm or hurricane does occur, the island overall is very well prepared and it is simply a case of staying indoors until the weather passes and listening to advice from your hotel staff. Storms very rarely last for too long too.
Rainfall
The good news at this time of year is that rainfall is on the downward spiral now, compared to the previously wet months which have just passed. You can expect an average rainfall level of around 140mm, which is much less than previously, and this falls to some degree across 15 days of the month. This is also a popular time to visit for those who prefer slightly lower temperatures, as the extreme heat of the peak summer months has abated slightly.
Temperature
The average temperature during this month is around 26°C, which is a comfortable level for getting out and about. Of course, the peak sun hours during mid-afternoon bring greater heat, and the average high temperature can hit the 30°C mark. Evenings are thankfully slightly cooler, although air conditioning will still be needed, as the evening low is only around 22°C.
Sunshine Hours
There is no month of the year in The Bahamas that doesn't bask in plentiful sunshine, and this month sees an average of 8 hours of sunshine per day on average, which goes hand in hand with a wonderfully warm sea temperature average of around 28°C. The crowds on the beaches will have reduced slightly at this time, which makes for the ideal conditions for a beach day on one of those iconic Caribbean beaches.
