What's The Weather Like In Mombasa In July

Conditions continue to dry out in July in Mombasa as the amount of precipitation continues to dwindle and temperatures remain steady. While this is still winter in the Southern Hemisphere, thanks to the tropical location of the region and its closeness to the Equator, temperatures will remain warm throughout the year. This makes this time of the year a nice getaway for mild weather, when other regions may experience high heat in the Northern Hemisphere.

Sea Temperature

One area that does cool off a little bit at this time of the year is the sea. While still warm enough to enjoy, the average sea temperature this time of the year is a mild 26°C (79°F).

Temperature

However, on land, temperatures are very similar to what they were in the June. The average overnight low temperature remains tied for the coolest of the season with lows bottoming out at 20°C (68°F). However, temperatures will rebound nicely to an average afternoon high of 27°C (81°F). The average daily temperature for this time of the year is 24°C (74°F) which is very pleasant without being scorching.

Rain

The average amount of precipitation will continue to fall with 80mm of rainfall expected in the month. That rain is spread over 13 days, so there will be some times when visitors will have to deal with a brief tropical downpour. Overall, the chance of rain is 34 percent.  However, there is still a good chance of seeing sun on the same day as rain with the chance of a sunny day at 22 percent and the chance of a completely cloudy day at just 5 percent.

Sunshine Hours

In fact, there are 8 hours of sunshine per day. Since there is still a significant window of time for rain to fall, visitors will want to consult an extended forecast not only to see the rain chances, but also to see if long sleeves or pants will be needed to ward off a slight evening chill.
