What's the weather like in Mojacar in March?

Temperature

March is a slightly warmer month leading on from February, with daily average temperatures rising up to 14°C. This is a great improvement which means your holiday will be a more pleasant one, with highs that go up as far as 17°C. This is a great mild temperature for this time of year, especially when compared with other parts of the world.

Rain

Spring has truly started in Mojacar, and while the average daily lows may be 11°C, you will just need to wrap up warm to combat those colder days. Pack accordingly and there should be no reason not to fully enjoy your holiday! Rainfall rises to 20mm through the month, but this covers just 10 days.

Sunshine Hours

That means plenty of dry time to explore and you will have 9 hours of sunshine a day in which to do it. That increase from 8 hours in the winter time means that the warmer weather is on its way, as the heat of the sun lasts for longer every evening.

Sea Temperature

It is still chilly on the beaches, however, with temperatures in the sea standing at an average of 15°C. This is not so bad if you have a wetsuit, or are used to swimming in unheated waters and is also very pleasant on days when the outside temperature is lower. Together with February this is the coldest point for the sea, but it does get warmer as the months go on. It is pretty much the same story up and down the coast, with nearby Almeria experiencing the same kind of temperatures at this time of year. The similar climates mean that your choice of coastal resort can be based on what kind of things you can get up to in the area, rather than being too heavily influenced by the temperatures.

Hotels in Mojacar in March

Hostal El Palmeral

The Hostal El Palmeral is a budget option for March, as the local area starts to wake up again after the off season. Though the facilities may not be much to boast off, this is a great point from which to explore all of the attractions through the nearby town and surrounding countryside. It's perfect for travellers who like to be active all the time.

Rio Abajo

You can also try the Hotel Rio Abajo, which is actually in a community of apartments situated around a guitar-shaped pool. You can rent one of these apartments for a short term or even a longer stay. Otherwise, take a room at the hotel next to the beach, where you will find a relaxed environment and great sea views.

Apartamentos El Gran Gonzalez Mojacar Playa

Or there's the Apartamentos El Gran Gonzalez Mojacar Playa. The apartments are large and contain everything you will need for a stay of a week or two, as well as being close by to the beach. You can even book scuba diving lessons with the team here, starting with a practice at the central pool and then heading out to the sea.

Bars and Restaurants

La Table de Cathy

French cuisine is served at affordable prices at La Table de Cathy. This beachfront restaurant has plenty of charm, and only closes for a short break in January so you can be sure it will be open in March even if other venues are not. The food is presented well alongside live music from time to time in the early evenings.

Pura Vida

Pura Vida serves traditional Spanish seafood, so if you are looking to get the most of your holiday with an authentic experience, this is it. Like many Spanish tapas bars, it is also a cocktail and martini bar where you can drink all night with friends. They also have a full schedule of events for you to enjoy, so plan your visit ahead.

Things to Do in Mojacar in March

Cortijo Grande Golf Club

It might not be warm enough to go sit on the beach, but if you can handle March temperatures with a coat on, you should head down to the Cortijo Grande Golf Club. You can arrange a trip there or just drive if you have hired a car. There are some things that are reserved for members only, but you can visit to play as a guest. They also have regular tournaments in which guests are sometimes welcome, and if you think you have a chance you can always sign up for membership before the contest starts. This is one of the main pastimes in Spain so it's worth a try!

Sierra Nevada Mountains

How about going on a day trip? The Sierra Nevada Mountains are close by, and they house a national park as well as plenty of activities such as skiing. Snow sports are cold at any time of year, so it won't matter whether the sun is out or not! You can hire clothing and equipment as well as getting lessons, so don't worry about how inexperienced or ill-prepared you might be.
