June is a beautiful month to visit Mogan, with an average daytime temperature of 23°C and 12 hours of sunshine each day. The days are long at this time of year, and are perfect for an early morning swim or late evening drink. Sunrise is around 7am and sunset at 9pm at the beginning of June. The temperatures are still increasing as the month progresses towards the warmer months of August and September, and the days can reach as high as 25°C while overnight temperatures only drop to a warm 20°C. Temperatures have soared to a record high of 39°C in 2010 but also plummeted to the lowest recorded temperature in 1970 of just 12°C.
Rain shouldn't interfere with your holiday plans at this time of year. Rainfall levels are usually low and there is often no rain at all during June. If it does rain, it is more likely to be drizzling or a brief shower than grey and rainy all day. Skies are mostly clear throughout the month, with only 30-40% cloud cover meaning there is plenty of opportunity for enjoying the sun and clear days. Have a look at the weather forecast before travelling to get up to date information.
Make the most of the sunshine and have a swim in the warm sea at this time of year. Sea temperatures are an average of 21°C in this month, so perfect for water sports or just relaxing by the water's edge. The humidity should not be uncomfortable and ranges from 55% to 85% (mildly humid to humid). Winds keep the humidity down and vary from 5 m/s, gentle breeze, to 13 m/s, strong breeze, but the wind can pick up to a high 15 m/s. In summer, the Calima caused by trade winds can push hot, dusty air from the African coast and temperatures can soar. Coastal areas such as Mogan are more cool and comfortable if this occurs during your visit.

Hit the Beach
The main beach in Mogan is the Playa de Mogan and is a beautiful stretch of golden sand in a protected bay, making it a perfect beach for families and children. A breakwater surrounds the crescent-shaped beach and the clear sea is calm and ideal for swimming. Snorkelling is a great pastime here; admiring the many fish that can be found in the bay or enjoy one of the many other water sports available. This beach has sunbeds and sunshades for hire and for active visitors, there are pedalos and canoes. There are kiosks along the sand selling drinks and snacks and there are many restaurants in the area that serve lunch and dinner.
Restaurants and Nightlife
Visitors looking for a quiet and relaxed evening out should try the Nirvana Chill out bar in Arguineguin. With terraces, billiards table and indoor area, there is plenty to do when here, and the weekend live music draws the crowds. Both tourists and locals love to come here and soak up the ambience.
The perfect venue for enjoying a beautiful sunset and a cold drink in the summer evenings is the Mogan Mar restaurant. Situated close to the beach and offering panoramic views of the area, this restaurant and bar serves the finest local Canarian cuisine and has won the Canarian Quality Award several times. Meat dishes are their speciality, but the menu features locally caught fish, vegetarian dishes and tapas as well as local wines to wash the meal down.
For beachside dining, you can't miss Tapas Tapas restaurant and snack bar situated on the Playa de Mogan beachfront. All the tables here have beach views from the restaurant or the terrace. Holiday makers with children will find this is perfect for lunch, because the large playground is directly opposite the terrace within viewing distance, and with no cars allowed here, there is little danger for children. Enjoy tapas, fish, seafood and international dishes and watch sporting matches on the big screen TV.
Things To Do
While staying at Mogan beach, go for a trip on the Yellow Submarine, perfect for visitors who want to see the stunning underwater world of this bay but don't want to get wet. Sit in comfort in this real submarine in a trip to the bottom of the Atlantic. This 40-minute excursion allows guests to see the amazing shipwrecks 25 foot below the surface and the life that now surrounds them. The cabin is fully pressurised so there is no uncomfortable change in pressure to worry about and it is suitable for young and old.
The town's most important festival is celebrated in June, although the exact date varies so check beforehand. The Romeria de San Antonio el Chico festival is a great way to experience the local culture and traditions as well as the warmth and friendliness of the local people. In this festival, Mogan's patron saint is celebrated with a parade and different carts and floats carried down the streets, traditional dress and plenty of food, music and dancing. The church San Antonio de Padua holds mass, and food offerings are made which are then distributed to families in need across the municipality.
