Head down the coast a little way to Arguineguin and check out Mary D's bar. The perfect spot to relax with friends, meet new people, watch the live football and sport from home and around Europe or indulge in a delicious cocktail. If you enjoy your sport or music, this is the place to go, with regular entertainment on offer such as live music and quiz nights. The staff are friendly and welcoming and this bar is relaxed and warm and gets very busy day and night.
Authentic Italian cuisine can be found at La Cicala restaurant in Playa de Mogan, serving food that is based on simplicity of ingredients and natural, locally sourced produce. Prepared fresh daily by the chefs, dishes include pasta, pizza, meats, seafood and vegetables, food allergies are well catered for. With a great view over the bay and welcoming staff, visitors staying in the area must go here for lunch or dinner during their holiday.
When visiting Mogan town, go to restaurant Acaymo Mogan, serving authentic dishes in a traditional atmosphere at a great price. Enjoy your meal outside, if the weather is good, overlooking the barranco, or stay in the warm and welcoming restaurant with its great service. The food is fantastic and features Canarian, Spanish and international cuisine, with locally produced wines and a selection of other drinks.
Things to Do
When staying at Puerto de Mogan or one of the nearby coastal resorts, a visit to the inland town of Mogan is a nice change of pace. Located about 5 miles from the coast and overlooked by stunning mountain scenery, this town has a church and several restaurants and tavernas which are a great place for soaking up some local culture and trying some local cuisine. Many also display locally made handicrafts such as pottery and art. Local fiestas often take place here with traditional dancing and music, and the nearby Molino Quemado is a beautifully restored windmill that is worth exploring.
A great way to spend a day is at the local market at Arguineguin. Featuring local and tourist items, there are plenty of shopping opportunities for everyone. Shop for souvenirs, t-shirts, handbags leather goods or fruit and vegetables in this bustling and interesting market that is held every Tuesday. Don't be shy about haggling to get price reductions on most items.
