Things to do in Milan in May

An area of great culture, Milan is well-known for its many historic landmarks, monuments and museums, which are well worth exploring if you are in the city. One such landmark is Sforza Castle, a medieval castle that was built in the 15th century. Today, visitors can walk the grounds or visit the museums and art galleries that are housed here, which feature artworks by Michelangelo and paintings by Titian and Bellini among other things.

Milan is also known for its fashion and style, and is one of the fashion capitals of the world. If you spend any time in the city, shopping can be one of the major attractions for any fashion conscious tourist who loves couture. One of the best shopping destinations in Milan is the Quadrilatero d'Oro, or 'rectangle of gold' which is home to most of Milan's major stores. For a bargain, there are also many designer outlet stores in the city.

May hosts a few major events in Milan including Sagra del Carroccio which celebrates the anniversary of the battle of 1176. During this festival, costume parades and festivities go on in the city. As well as this, Pittori sul Naviglio is an outdoor art exhibition which may be of interest to some visitors.
