What's the Weather like in Miami in August

Temperature

Average daily temperatures of up to 28°C are common this month in Miami, so if you are planning a visit, make sure that you are keeping up with all of the necessary sun protection. On the other hand, the sun by itself might not be a problem at all: it's the humidity which can make it somewhat uncomfortable here during the month of August.

Rain and Humidity

You may wish to check the weather forecast on a daily basis, as it can be slightly unpredictable at this time of year. The main reason is the heavy rainfall. An average of 160mm rain will fall this month over around 15 days, and while this is not the wettest month, or as west as June, you can feel that the wet season is just around the corner. The humidity will continue to rise as the water combines with the heat of the sun.

High/Low Temperature

That heat will be going up to a maximum of 31°C on average, with lows reaching 24°C meaning there is not a lot of respite.

Sea Temperature

You can attempt to cool off in the sea, though with an average water temperature of 30°C, it might not be much help! If you like the heat, however, then this is the perfect time for a swim the warm waters will feel magnificent.

Sunshine

There are an average of 11 hours of sunshine every day here, which explains why the nightlife seems to go on forever. This is a very popular part of the USA at this time of year, so make sure that you make the most of it and try to seek out the less-crowded beaches.

If you are thinking about delaying your trip for another month, then you should know that September maintains the same kind of temperatures while seeing a whole lot more rainfall.

Hotels for Miami in August

Hampton Inn by Hilton

For a week or two in this part of the world, the Hampton Inn by Hilton is a great choice. You might be able to save money if you are part of their Honors reward club, which will give you access to their free hot breakfast as well as their great placement in the centre of plenty of local attractions.

Holiday Inn

How about heading to the Holiday Inn if you want to get closer to the Downtown area? Bayside Marketplace is just across the street here, and that means the beach is too, perfect for an August stay. It has good links to the airport too.

New Yorker Boutique Hotel

If you are on a budget, travelling alone, or for business, then the New Yorker Boutique Hotel is a good bet. It's a great example of the Miami Modern architecture style, and has bags of character too. It's close by a blossoming neighbourhood of shopping, celebrity-chef-run restaurants, and some great attractions.

Beaches for August for Miami

South Beach

South Beach is a dream at this time of year: it's the main hotspot in the city, and with sea temperatures reaching an average of 30°C, expect a few crowds. It's known as America's Party Beach and also includes some famous art deco buildings that line the sands.

Hobie Beach

Hobie Beach is perfect for windsurfing, and is even known as Windsurfing Beach to some. You can go for lessons here, or just enjoy watching others. Plus, it's a dog-friendly beach, so pet owners will have a blast by bringing their furry friend along.

Haulover Beach Park

Haulover Beach Park has soft white sands, blue waters, and lots of picnic areas making it fantastic for families. You will also find a small area here where nudity is permitted, so if you want to let it all hang out - feel free.

Restaurants and Bars for Miami in August

La Bottega Enoteca Social

Grabbing a bite to eat could not be easier, even if you have just strolled off the sands of South Beach. Italian food is served at La Bottega Enoteca Social, and it is also known as a wine lover's paradise. Buy a bottle and sit here for late-night chats over good food.

Greenstreet Cafe

Greenstreet Café, meanwhile, is great for a lunch date. It serves American, European, and Mediterranean options, all in a traditional setting which is in keeping with the values of Coconut Grove. You can book a table online if you want to be sure of getting seated.

Panorama Restaurant & Sky Lounge

If you want dinner with a view, try the Panorama Restaurant & Sky Lounge. It has views out over Biscayne Bay and is led by head chef Chris Cramer. There is a special breakfast menu, and food is served all day.

Things to Do in Miami in August

Dadeland Mall

Shopping is a great way to not only remember your trip, but also duck in out of the August humidity for a while. The Dadeland Mall is a huge shopping centre with stores like Aeropostale, Hugo Boss, Puma, and The Cheesecake Factory. You can comfortably spend a whole day here and leave without seeing it all.

Gator Park

Alternatively, go for a fun-packed day out at Gator Park. You get to go on an airboat tour around the Everglades, meeting alligators and all kinds of other wildlife. They even have a live show where you can watch the employees wrestling alligators, using Native American techniques.

Monkey Jungle

If that's not enough nature for you, try the Monkey Jungle. This is just what it sounds like: A "jungle" area where many different species of monkey live for you to witness them. They even do tricks and perform live shows, which demonstrates just how smart these monkeys are.
