Dragon Boat Festival ⛵
Celebrated by the Sino-Mauritian community, the Dragon Boat Festival is a cultural event gaining popularity. It is traditionally held to commemorate the poet Qu Yuan. In Mauritius, the highlight is the dragon boat races that take place at the Caudan Waterfront in Port Louis. Teams paddle furiously in long, narrow boats decorated with dragon heads and tails, creating a thrilling spectacle. Traditional rice dumplings called "zongzi" are also eaten.
